Bush took our Freedoms Away

Picasso once said "The Artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place:  from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from the spider's web".  Today in DC, you saw the return of open thought and the accepting of those who are different as Obama gets set to take office on Tuesday.
For the last 8 years under Bush, we lost our ability to dream, to think about things in the abstract, and to accept those who are different.  We lost our freedoms and changed some of the principles this country was founded on.  Now, September 11 had a lot to do that but so did the leadership of the USA who had their own motivation for silencing the voice of dissent.
(The above comes from a sport's blog I like to read. Yes, it was on a sport's blog. In fact I agree with the blogger a lot when it comes to sports. The blogger  Matt Perrault has the idea that it is up to the President to get us to dream big dreams. He also is upset with Bush because we lost some of our freedoms. He admits the 911 attacks had a lot to do with that. So why blame Bush when people want you dead the leadership of the nation needs to take action. Also there are things the man in the White House cna do but his main job is to lead  not enoucrage us to dream and have goals. Matt please stick to sports. At least now Matt and others can't blame Bush for the bad that happens though they might try.)

President Obama Attacks President Bush over Katrina

President Obama will keep the broken promises made by President Bush to rebuild New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. He and Vice President Biden will take steps to ensure that the federal government will never again allow such catastrophic failures in emergency planning and response to occur.

President Obama swiftly responded to Hurricane Katrina. Citing the Bush Administration's "unconscionable ineptitude" in responding to Hurricane Katrina, then-Senator Obama introduced legislation requiring disaster planners to take into account the specific needs of low-income hurricane victims.

(The above didn't come from a so called web site run by the  radical left. It came from the  web site run by the new White House,  read more.    I thought the age of hate  was over and a new tone was going to come from this White House. Then the way Bush was mocked yesterday. Read the post I did yesterday Bush Mocked As He Arrives. Even a good democrat like Lanny Davis said he was embarrassed by these things. Good for Davis we need more democrats like him. )

Bush's Real Sin Was Winning in Iraq

[bush-waves-goodbye.jpg]

In a few hours, George W. Bush will walk out of the Oval Office for the last time as president. As he leaves, he carries with him the near-universal opprobrium of the permanent class that inhabits our nation's capital. Yet perhaps the most important reason for this unpopularity is the one least commented on.

Here's a hint: It's not because of his failures. To the contrary, Mr. Bush's disfavor in Washington owes more to his greatest success. Simply put, there are those who will never forgive Mr. Bush for not losing a war they had all declared unwinnable.

Here in the afterglow of the turnaround led by Gen. David Petraeus, it's easy to forget what the smart set was saying two years ago -- and how categorical they all were in their certainty. The president was a simpleton, it was agreed. Didn't he know that Iraq was a civil war, and the only answer was to get out as fast as we could?

The chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee -- the man who will be sworn in as vice president today -- didn't limit himself to his own opinion. Days before the president announced the surge, Joe Biden suggested to the Washington Post he knew the president's people had also concluded the war was lost. They were, he said, just trying to "keep it from totally collapsing" until they could "hand it off to the next guy."

( I am not sure what is ahead for the next four years but President Bush has kept us save the last eight years. I am also hopeful the history books will show more kindness to Bush than those on the left have in our times. Read the rest of this  very good piece by William McGurn in the Wall Street Journal.)

Bush Mocked As He Arrives

The crowd packed on the west side of the Capitol grounds serenaded President Bush in mocking fashion when he took to the inaugural stage alongside Vice President Dick Cheney. ( Bush Mocked As He Arrives on Dais  )

"Nah nah nah nah, hey hey, good-bye," a section of the crowd chanted.

The crowd packed immediately below the podium received Bush in stony silence when he took his seat on the stage surrounding the podium where Barack Obama was scheduled to take the oath office to become the 44th president of the United States.

(This was an outrage. Bush has given nothing but respect and grace to Obama.  One thing that Bush should enjoy about being a private American again is not having to deal with these souls. Let us who are on the right not do the same kind of things to Obama that the left did to Bush.)

How Conservatives Should Celebrate the Inauguration by David Horowitz

"If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer." - Barack Obama, Victory Speech, November 4, 2008

Yesterday was Martin Luther King's birthday, which is America's only national holiday to honor an American citizen. The day before, which was Sunday, the incoming Obama administration staged an Inauguration Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial around the theme "We Are One," which was also the theme his presidential campaign.

(The above is part of a column which is on Townhall.com written by David Horowitz. Read more of what Horowitz wrote below.)

First we have to recognize and then understand that whatever happens in the Obama presidency, this Inauguration Day is a watershed moment in the history of America and a remarkable event in the history of nations, and thus a cause for all of us who love this country, conservative and liberal, Democrat and Republican, to celebrate.

Second, in order to do this as conservative – as conservatives who have been through the culture wars -- we need to get past the mixed feelings we will inevitably have as the nation marks its progress in moving away from the racial divisions and divisiveness of the past.

If we celebrate Martin Luther King's birthday at a time of presidential inaugurals, this is thanks to Ronald Reagan who created the holiday, and not to the Democratic congress of the Carter years, which rejected it.

(Horowitz is right every American should celebrate today. Now I would add we should honor this day no matter who our next President is. Read More of the above column.)

Inauguration Day Prayer 1 20 09

Inauguration Day Tuesday, January 20, 2009. As I pointed out in my last post  every American should want Obama to be successful as President. No matter our faith or politics.

Those of us who are born again followers of Jesus along with other people of faith should be committed to praying for President Obama. It is fitting that the first African American President will assume office the day after Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

So what should we  pray for our new leader? To find out watch a video I just posted on You Tube called Inauguration Day Prayer 1 20 09.

President Obama

Lets all admit including us who are white and or on the right that history is being made today as the first ever black President takes office.

However I am troubled how the media has been worshipping Obama. One of my picks for 2009 was the media would turn on Obama once he takes office now I am not sure about that. The media is making it look like he has or is going to walk on water. Obama is our President and we all should wish him well and pray for him. However I don't believe the media has ever treated an Inauguration  like this before.

Again lets all rejoice that we have our first black President but lets admit he is only a man. He isn't God or has he ever walked on water or came back from the dead.

Those of us on the right lets back Obama when we can. However when he does something which we believe will hurt the nation in a respectful way let him and others know.

Those of us who have faith in God should go to the Lord and pray everyday for Obama. Where he is wrong God can chanhe him.

Every American including us on the right should wish Obama the best.

Let me take this space  to welcome all my old  blog readers  over to my new blog. Also welcome to anyone new to my blog.

Let me tell you about myself.

1. When it comes to politics on most issues I am a conservative.

2. I happen to be a member of the GOP but I am not committed to any political party. I will clap for those from both paries when they do right and I will go after them when they do wrong.

3. I believe there are good people who love America in both parties.

4. I believe I can learn from those who may not agree with me.

5. I try my best to treat all souls with reepect.

6. I don't have all the answers.

7. Most of all I am a follower of Jesus who will never push my faith on anyone at the same time I will never compromise. I will pray for all our leaders regardless of politics, or party.

8. There is a place for politics but no man or party can solve all of our ills. The true answer for our nation is a spiritual and moral change which can only come from God.

Bush Commutes Border Agents' Sentences

In his final acts of clemency, President George W. Bush on Monday granted early prison releases to two former U.S. Border Patrol agents whose convictions for shooting a Mexican drug dealer fueled the national debate over illegal immigration.

( Bush Commutes Border Agents' Sentences) Bush, responding to heavy pressure from Republican and Democratic lawmakers alike, commuted the prison sentences of Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean.

(I wish President Bush had pardoned  these two men who were just doing their jobs. Still this is a good thing, these two men will be home with their families within two months. It is an outrage what these two have gone through. Thank you Mr. Bush. )

Martin Luther King "I have a dream"

Today, Monday January 19th is the day here in America we honor Martin Luther King. Regardless of our faith, race, or culture background we should all pay honor to this man. Yes he had moral failures in his life but the Bible says we are all sinners. King was a man who stood up for those who had no rights and I believe he was a man of faith. Take time and watch the following videoMartin Luther King "I have a dream."

WELCOME TO TOWN, PRESIDENT OBAMA from Cal Thomas

Welcome to Washington, soon to be “Mr. President.” I know you’ve been here before for a short time as senator, but this is different. This is The Big Time, the world stage and you are the leading man.

You campaigned on change and won the election. That was the easy part. Every new administration comes to town thinking it will be better than the one before it, more honest, more ethical, more competent. But people and events have a way of frustrating the loftiest goals. All of your good intentions notwithstanding, no one person can change a city built on a swamp, a city that has taken on many of a swamp’s characteristics.

(The above is from a column written by Cal Thomas. Read more of what Cal wrote below.)

Even conservatives like me want you to succeed, so long as you don’t pursue a strictly left-wing agenda. Would you like to disarm the social conservatives? Instead of signing an executive order that strikes down what few restrictions remain on abortion, start with your declared intention to make abortion rare. Ask for legislation that requires pregnant, abortion-minded women to receive full disclosure, including sonograms, so that their choice will be fully informed. Elevate the visibility of the pregnancy help centers around the country that quietly and without charge assist women before and after childbirth. They even help women who have chosen to have abortions. You will create a lot of goodwill among those who otherwise might oppose you.

(Cal is right we all should want President Obama to succeed. That includes us who are on the right. I hope the new President will follow the advice of Cal. I have been praying for him and plan to keep it up. Read the whole column Cal wrote WELCOME TO TOWN, PRESIDENT OBAMA.)

Castro unlikely to appear in public again

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said  it is unlikely that ailing former Cuban leader Fidel Castro will ever appear in public again.

"That Fidel in his uniform who walked the streets and towns late at night, hugging the people, won't return," Chavez said during his Sunday television and radio program. "That will remain in memories."

"Fidel will live forever, beyond the physical life," Chavez said.

(Well I agree with Chavez Castro will live even after his life on this earth is history. However in the next life he will answer to God. If he doesn't repent of his sinful life on this earth I wouldn't want to be him. Still I am praying that Castro has a heart change and comes to faith in God. I am also praying for the people of Cuba I hope soon they will  live in a free nation. Cuba is being run by an evil government. You don't have to believe me just do some study on Cuba and go to web sites like The Real Cuba. To read more about Castro click on this link Castro unlikely to appear in public again.)
