8-year-old Saudi girl divorces 50-year-old husband

An 8-year-old Saudi girl has divorced her middle-aged husband after her father forced her to marry him last year in exchange for about $13,000, her lawyer said Thursday. Saudi Arabia has come under increasing criticism at home and abroad for permitting child marriages. The United States, a close ally of the conservative Muslim kingdom, has called child marriage a "clear and unacceptable" violation of human rights. ( 8-year-old Saudi girl divorces 50-year-old husband    )
The girl was allowed to divorce the 50-year-old man who she married in August after an out-of-court settlement had been reached in the case, said her lawyer, Abdulla al-Jeteli. The exact date of the divorce was not immediately known.

(This shows  how people and for sure girls are being treated badly in  radical Islam. )

Legal battle over mandatory sex ed in Germany

A German family has filed an appeal with the European Court of Human Rights after losing a court battle over mandatory sex education.
(    Legal battle over mandatory sex ed in Germany              )

The case began when parents Eduard and Elisabeth Elscheidt made the decision to keep their 11-year-old daughter from participating in her school's mandatory interactive stage play titled "My Body Is Mine." The parents took issue with the play because they say it taught children that if something felt good sexually, then it was okay. The play was part of a four-day sexual-ed program.

(This is a reason why German parents and American parents might want to remove their children from  the public schools or as I call them government schools. Sex education doesn't belong in the schools. It should be taught at home and in the church.)

Brownback votes for Sebelius, 'betrays' Christians

A Kansas pastor says by endorsing Kathleen Sebelius for Health and Human Services secretary, Senator Sam Brownback "violated the scriptures and his own church's teaching" and "betrayed" many conservative Christians who had been his largest base of support.
Senator Brownback (R-Kansas) joined home-state colleague Pat Roberts and seven other Republicans Tuesday to help Kathleen Sebelius win approval (65-31) to serve as HHS secretary.
Wichita pastor Terry Fox, a longtime friend and supporter of Senator Brownback, says the word "disappointment" would not be strong enough to describe his reaction to Brownback's actions. Pastor Fox says members of his Wichita church have made hundreds of phone calls to Brownback's office, but the senator "doesn't care what conservative Christians think" on this matter.

"The part of the body of Christ that I'm a part of feels that we've been betrayed by Sam Brownback," says Fox. "Pat Roberts has disappointed us before, and we know him some; but really, Sam Brownback has been a huge disappointment. And I would say [that] we must, we must hold Sam Brownback accountable for this vote."

NPR axes Christian radio programs

In 1985, National Public Radio (NPR) adopted a policy stating that member stations had to provide "nonsectarian, non-political, noncommercial" educational programming. But in February 2009, the wording was changed to say: "NPR Member Stations shall provide ONLY [emphasis added] nonsectarian, non-political, noncommercial educational content on all broadcast channel(s) and related media distribution platforms such as member partners that use the NPR member brands." ( NPR axes Christian radio programs    )

The rule, which takes effect May 1, means that any NPR stations carrying religious programming must cease and desist that programming as of that date. In explaining its decision, PBS says it "places a high value on presenting diverse perspectives, as opposed to rigidly adhering to any single political or religious point of view." Allowing such programming, it continues, "would cause the public's trust in PBS to erode, along with the value of the brand."

(So shows which teach about Jesus, the Bible, and or faith are no longer welcomes  on NPR. I wonder if this means those who try to keep God out of the public view will no longer be welcomed on NPR. Don't make any bets on that.)

HOMOSEXUALITY in UK Faith Based Schools

FOR THOSE WHO THINK THERE WILL BE NO CONSEQUENCES FOR OTHERS WHEN SAME-SEX MARRIAGE BECOMES FULLY LEGAL IN AMERICA, CONSIDER THIS. IN BRITAIN, STUDENTS AS YOUNG AS ELEVEN WILL BE TAUGHT ABOUT HOMOSEXUALITY AND CIVIL PARTNERSHIPS IN COMPULSORY SEX EDUCATION CLASSES. THE MANDATORY FEATURE INCLUDES ALL FAITH SCHOOLS. THAT’S RIGHT. THE GOVERNMENT IN BRITAIN IS ABOUT TO MANDATE THE TEACHING OF A SEXUAL PRACTICE THAT CHRISTIANS, JEWS AND MUSLIMS REGARD AS UNHOLY AND AGAINST GOD’S DESIGN AND WILL FOR MANKIND.

(This is an outrage. We better be prepared for this  here in America as the goal of  those who want same sex marriages keep gaining  the blessings of more states. Read more of the above commentary April 29th 2009  or listen to the audio.)

Catholic pro-life leader snubs Notre Dame invitation

A noted pro-life leader is refusing an honor from the University of Notre Dame.

Harvard Law professor Mary Ann Glendon has written an open letter to Notre Dame president John Jenkins, refusing the prestigious Laetare Medal and a chance to speak at the school's commencement ceremony on May 17. However, President Obama will give a commencement speech and receive an honorary degree at the event.

Susan Fani, director of communications for the Catholic League, explains.

(Isn't it sad that  a pro- life leader  doesn't feel welcomed at the  University of Notre Dame but a radical pro abortion President is welcomed.  University of Notre Dame  should be full of shame! Read more on this issue Catholic pro-life leader snubs Notre Dame invitation.)

Leaving the Republican Party

Sen. John McCain's daughter and his presidential campaign manager think they've figured out why McCain lost the 2008 election and what Republicans must do to win in the future.

(To find out what  the GOP needs to do to win and my thoughts on it watch a video I just posted, Leaving the Republican Party .)

Homosexual lifestyle, marriage cause families pain

This April marked our 47th wedding anniversary. My wife, Judy, and I have been blessed with an enduring love that has brought us through the ups and downs of nearly five decades together. We raised three wonderful children, and now enjoy being grandparents. Ours has in many ways been a storybook life.

The single most tragic event in our years together has been the untimely death of our oldest son, Randy. Our firstborn was a blessing that brought so much joy into our lives. He was extremely smart, he participated in extracurricular activities, graduated with many honors and went on to college. After college, he moved to Omaha and took a job. It was while he was living in Omaha that one of Randy's co-workers recruited him into the homosexual "lifestyle."
We loved our son as much as any parents have ever loved a son. Even when we became aware of his homosexuality, we assured him of our love. That is not to say that we condoned or accepted what we knew to be a dangerous "lifestyle," but we always maintained our relationship with the son we had raised and the man we prayed would be delivered from homosexuality.
For years, my wife and I have watched the media and homosexual activists work together to redefine family and marriage in our society. The consistent message has been that homosexual "marriage" will hurt no one, and that those of us who support marriage only between one man and one woman will not be impacted. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Our hearts go out to people caught up in homosexuality. The destruction and pain that homosexuality leaves in its wake is deep and impacts so many more than just the individuals caught up in the activity. We now know several other couples who are struggling with a son who chose to engage in homosexuality. We know the pain they endure, and understand when they reach out for help. One person's homosexuality causes stress and strain on every friend and relative who truly cares about them.
For the Iowa Supreme Court to sanction homosexual "marriage" is to encourage and underwrite the negative results that naturally come from the homosexual "lifestyle." Aside from the physical destruction inflicted on those who practice homosexuality and the incredible stress homosexuals cause their extended families, society often pays a hefty price as well.
(The above was part of  a column which was printed in a Iowa newspaper today. The truth is  people who don't behave the way God said to do are more likely to come down with HIV than those who follow God's plan. Read more of the column Homosexual lifestyle, marriage cause families pain |.)

Specter's switch self-serving, not principled

A political analyst in Pennsylvania says five-term Senator Arlen Specter's decision to join the Democratic Party was a "crass political calculation" in an effort to give him a shot at winning re-election next year.
Specter announced yesterday that he is leaving the Republican Party, saying it had moved too far to the right. "I am unwilling to have my 29-year Senate record judged by the Pennsylvania Republican primary electorate," he stated. "I don't have to say anything to them. They said it to me." (View news video report)
Lowman Henry, chairman and CEO of the Pennsylvania-based Lincoln Institute, says with decisions like that being made by GOP leaders, it is no wonder the Republican Party is in the minority in both Houses of Congress. (  Specter's switch self-serving, not principled   )

"I think all three of them [Bush, Santorum, and Cornyn] should be hanging their heads in shame for having backed Senator Specter against Pat Toomey, who is the type of center-right candidate who espouses the core principles of the party -- the principles that Ronald Reagan won on, the principles that Newt Gingrich won on with the 'Contract with America,' and the type of principles that if we can get back to we can win again," says Henry.

The Lincoln Institute chairman says it is not that the Republican Party in Pennsylvania has become more conservative, but that Specter "has grown more liberal.

(Yes some in the GOP should be hanging their heads in shame. As I wrote in a post yesterday too many leaders backed  Specter  just because GOP was in front of his name. His heart and values left the GOP along time ago.)

Cardinal Rigali Says Notre Dame Defence of Obama Honor "Evades Common Sense"

Philadelphia's Cardinal Justin Rigali, Chairman of the U.S. Catholic bishops' Committee on Pro-Life Activities, weighed in on the Notre Dame scandal in an exclusive interview with LifeSiteNews.com today.  Rigali called the school's decision to honor President Obama a "most unfortunate" decision that "must not happen again," and criticized the school's defense of the decision as one that "evades common sense."

President Obama is due to give the commencement address and receive an honorary law degree at Notre Dame May 17.

"My reaction is that it is most unfortunate," said Rigali.  "It's most unfortunate because of the confusion it causes; it's most unfortunate because of the message that it gives with regard to the importance of human life; it's most unfortunate in regard to the confusion that it causes also in the ordinary people - the students, the graduates, the families ... but above all, it is most unfortunate because the value that is attributed to life through the recognition of an honorary degree in this regard is just not acceptable."
Asked to give his opinion on the unprecedented backlash from U.S. bishops and thousands of Catholic laity over Notre Dame's decision, Rigali said he believes that "something very positive is going on in our country along with all the negative things - that there is a greater and evolving understanding of the value of human life in many, many people."
( I hope no one minds but as a non Catholic I keep wondering how can a Catholic School honor a radical pro abortion President and still hold on to the name Catholic. Read more of the above   commentary.)

100 Days Mr. President

HAPPY 100TH DAY MR. President:
Today marks the 100th day of President Obama being in office.
What are my thoughts on the 100th days we have had.
I am not shocked by what has taken place though I am not happy about what has taken place.
He has shown that those of us who posted and said he would be a radical were 100% right.
He is the most pro abortion President we have had. He wants to take the freedom of choice away from health care workers who do want to take part in abortions.
He wants to remove anything from faith away. He asked a Catholic college to remove anything that showed faith from being displayed before he gave a talk at that college. I can't understand why the school agreed to do that. Might not be a school to send your child to.
President Obama while in another nation said America is not a Christian nation. He was right today we don't  follow our Christian based values however I believe he was saying we don't have Godly roots which he is wrong.
He also said we are not at war with radical Islam. That might be his view but  I believe radical followers of Islam are at war with us. I am afraid Obama is making it more likely we will have another 911 attack. I hope and pray I am wrong.
Then there is his plan for government to help others with more spending and more government programs. What a 100 days it has been.
Those of us who are people of faith even us who are concerned  about what our President is doing we must keep him in our prayers.

Senate confirms health secretary nominee

 – Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius won Senate confirmation Tuesday as the nation's health and human services secretary, thrusting her into the middle of a public health emergency with the swine flu sickening dozens of Americans. (  Senate confirms health secretary nominee   )

The 65-31 confirmation vote came after Democrats urged quick action so that Sebelius could get to work leading the federal response to the flu outbreak.

"We find ourselves in the midst of a global crisis," said Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn. "What we've been missing in all of this is the head of the Health and Human Services Department."

(This is too bad. There are questions about the Gov. and  her  friendship  with Dr. Tiller and how she has not done much to stop late term abortions. See the post I did a few days ago GOP Chief Calls on Obama to Withdraw Sebelius' Nomination for Health Secretary .)
