Boycotting weddings of heterosexuals

Dear Miss Manners: My partner and I have attended several weddings of heterosexuals in Wisconsin, which, ironically, passed the first statewide Gay Rights Bill in the 1980s and now bans so-called gay marriages. My partner doesn’t like the fact that I now boycott straight marriages instead of attending them. His mother thinks it’s selfish.

I have said that until I see straight folks actively support our right to marry, I’m not going to add my support (and gifts, etc.) to their marriages.

It’s not about spite — it’s about fairness, equality and wanting the same opportunity, and too many of them don’t get it. Until they do and start contacting their government officials, nothing will change.

Why shouldn’t I boycott straight marriages? (Miss MannersWedding ...   )

Gentle Reader: Because you are insulting people who presumably care about you (or they wouldn’t be inviting you to their weddings) by declaring that you grudge them the same sort of happiness that you want for yourself. And because snubbing people is not the way to get them out working for the cause.

(Amen Miss Manners. Also those who are trying to force same sex marriage down us who don't believe in it need to accept  to most of us it is not about hate. We are doing what we believe is best for the institution of the family, best for the culture, and in some cases we don't believe God approves of same sex marriage. We follow what the Bible says about hating the sin not the sinner. )

'Principled' GOP candidate would have won

A pro-life group that backed Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman says the Democratic special election victory in New York's 23rd Congressional District is actually a win for motivated conservative activists.
Democrat and retired Air Force Captain Bill Owens, running in a historically Republican stronghold, capitalized on a split that emerged between Republican liberals and conservatives. Owens defeated Hoffman (49 percent to 45 percent) after the withdrawal of liberal Republican candidate DeDe Scozzafava over the weekend, whose name remained on the ballot, drawing 6 percent of the vote.
Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the socially conservative Susan B. Anthony List, says the Republican Party "apparatus" needs to learn a strong lesson from the New York contest. ( 'Principled' GOP candidate would have won)

"Being principled is the best strategy for long-term success," she states. "In New York [District] 23, if we had had a candidate who was principled in terms of accepting and embracing the principles of the Republican Party platform, we would be seeing a Republican sworn in from [that] district right now. As it turns out, Doug Hoffman ended up having to run against two parties for a very long period of time."

Dannenfelser says the well-funded fiscal and social conservative coalition that united behind Hoffman needs to be replicated by the Republican Party in 2010 if it hopes to elect conservative leaders across the nation.
(The Grand Old Party needs to run people who will back up the core values of the party  including right to life, lower taxes, a strong America. )

TX law shelters porn-viewing dad

An Amarillo, Texas, man won't be prosecuted -- for the time being, at least -- after allegedly showing hardcore pornography to his daughters, ages 8 and 9.
Hiram Sasser of Liberty Legal Institute tells OneNewsNow that the law was designed to help parents.

"This law is intended only for allowing parents to engage in their right to raise and direct the upbringing of their children by being able to engage in sex education as they see fit," he explains. "It never was intended to be and should never be used as license to show children obscene pornography."
(So it is  OK to show hard core porn to your young children. I bet most of the good people who live in Amarillo, Texas wouldn't agree with that. Read more of the above story TX law shelters porn-viewing dad.)

Pro-life proposal on Health Care Bill a sham?

A spokesman for National Right to Life says the latest attempt by House Democrats to obscure federal abortion funding in their healthcare bill is a "political fig leaf made out of cellophane."

Blue Dog Congressman Brad Ellsworth (D-Indiana), an avowed pro-lifer, is sponsoring an amendment he claims would make sure no federal funds in the bill are used to provide abortions.  (Pro-life proposal a sham?)

However, pro-life groups across the country say Ellsworth's proposal is a sham.  Douglas Johnson, legislative director for the National Right to Life Committee, says House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the Obama administration are desperately trying to undercut Congressman Bart Stupak (D-Michigan) and other pro-lifers who want to pass an amendment barring abortion funding.

"How do they do that?  By coming up with some phony baloney language and finding some pro-life guy who's willing to play along and be the front man," explains Johnson. "And unfortunately Mr. Ellsworth has been drawn into that role."

Johnson says Ellsworth's amendment not only keeps abortion in the bill, but it also adds insult to injury.

(Lets not be fooled and any  any congressman  who falls for this trick  should be voted out of office ASAP.)

LA doctor fakes exams, lets diseased immigrants get visas...

Los Angeles doctor has allegedly found a creative way to speed up his workflow.

Levon Tebelekian, 72, is accused of giving medical clearance to immigrants applying for U.S. visas by allegedly falsifying the results of medical exams and lab tests, the Los Angeles Times reported.

In one case, he allegedly told an undercover ICE agent that he was not going to "disturb his blood" and that he "did not look like he had AIDS," according to an affidavit.

(I hope this will be looked into soon if it has not been. This man should have  his right to be a doctor removed. Thanks to what this doctor did many people in America could have been given some illness. Read more on this story by clicking  right here.)

Why Did the Killings Happen at Texas Base and how the Media Reported

Twelve people have been killed and 30 wounded in a shooting spree at a Texas military post in a murderous rampage that officials believe was carried out by an Army psychiatrist who was about to be deployed to Iraq. (WHY DID HE DO IT?  )

Gunman opens fire on soldiers and civilians at the largest U.S. Army base.

The suspected gunman was identified by ABC News as Major Nidal Malik Hasan. An Army official confirmed that Maj. Hasan would have been deployed to Iraq later this month. Sources tell ABC News that this would have been his firstdeployment.

The shooter was initially reported to have been killed, but Lt. Gen. Robert W. Cone told a late night news conference that the suspect was wounded and in custody. Cone would not say what Hasan's medical condition was, but said the suspect was not in danger of dying.

Hasan is not talking to authorities, said Cone.

Hasan's cousin, Nader Hasan, issued a statement late Thursday.

"We are shocked and saddened by the terrible events at Fort Hood today. We send the families of the victims our most heartfelt sympathies," the statement read. "Nidal was an American citizen. He was Born in Arlington, Virginia and raised here in America...Our family loves America. We are proud of our country, and saddened by today's tragedy."

Hasan allegedly opened fire and killed 12 people on the post before he was shot several times. Among the wounded was a female police officer who exchanged gunfire with Hasan.

( What else could I post but to write this whole thing is sad. I hope the media will cover that the killer was a follower of Islam. What would have the media had done if the killer had been yelling Jesus. You know what would have happened if that had been the case the media  would been reporting that followers of Jesus are too extreme. So could this killing had been a hate crime.)

'ALLAHU AKBAR'

An Army psychiatrist suspected of opening fire on fellow soldiers at Fort Hood cleaned out his apartment in the days before the rampage that left 13 people dead, a neighbor said Friday.

The neighbor, Patricia Villa, said Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan came over to her apartment Wednesday and Thursday and offered her some items, including a new Quran, saying he was going to be deployed on Friday. She wasn't sure if he was going to Iraq or Afghanistan.

Authorities said Hasan went on a shooting spree later Thursday at the sprawling Texas post. He was among 30 people wounded in the spree and remained hospitalized on a ventilator Friday. All but two of the injured were still hospitalized, and all were in stable condition.

Investigators were still trying to piecing together how and why an Army psychiatrist facing deployment allegedly gunned down his comrades in one of the worst mass shootings ever on an American military base.

(Please join me in keeping the families of the dead in your thoughts and prayers. Also pray for those who are hurt along with their families that includes the gun- man. If I had to guess I would bet this had something to do with Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan being a follower of the Islam faith but we all will just have to wait and see. Read more on this story 'ALLAHU AKBAR'.)
