Cal Thomas Thoughts

Last Sunday myself and many others  in my city had the joy of hearing a great column writer (Cal Thomas) speak. Cal said many great things.

One of the things Cal said those of us who are people of faith need to build relationships with others. Cal has done that with many different people in the media that he is friends with. Cal has made many friends with those who don't hold the same  political  views as his.

Cal looks at things from the right. He first is a follower of Jesus, then he is a  conservative.

I hope you are reading Cal Thomas in your newspaper. By the way if your paper picks up the Cal Thomas column get  a  subscription to it and  tell the editor why you are taking it.  If your paper doesn't pick up the Cal Thomas column you can read it at calthomas.com/.

Cal also does a radio commentary Monday through Friday. It can be heard  right here.

Shooter + political correctness = tragedy

An expert on Islamic terrorism believes federal officials bowed to political correctness in their dealings with the Army major who is accused of killing 13 people at Fort Hood last week. (Shooter + political correctness = tragedy )
The FBI is looking into whether it mishandled early information about Major Nidal Malik Hasan. Nearly a year ago, terrorism investigators conducted an assessment of the Army psychiatrist. At that time, the agency decided that Hasan did not pose a threat.
Brigitte Gabriel, founder and president of ACT! for America and author of the New York Times bestseller They Must Be Stopped: Why We Must Defeat Radical Islam and How We Can Do It, believes the feds dropped the ball by overlooking this terrorist connection.

"It is a sad day when our military, including our FBI [and] our CIA, our military that is supposed to protect us and protect each other...have [come] to such a state where they are willing to close their eyes and indirectly betray each other to the point that blood of our sons and daughters [is] shed...because of political correctness and because of the level of intimidation that is now going through our military," Gabriel contends. "And I think enough is enough, and this is a wake-up call for America."
(Brigitte Gabriel is right those who have the job to keep us safe and those who lead us  need to stop being P.C. and go after  Radical Islam.)

Two Dozen Middle School Kids Arrested for Food Fight...

Eighth-graders Cassandra and Aliyah Russell of Chicago never imagined they'd be arrested in their school cafeteria, much less for throwing food.

But that's just what happened following lunchtime mayhem last Thursday at the Perspectives Charter Middle School, south of Chicago. More than two dozen students, ages 11 to 15, were rounded up by police, arrested and charged with misdemeanor reckless conduct.

"They took us to jail, fingerprinted us, mugshotted us, or whatever, all because of a food fight...I was arrested. Handcuffs on," 13-year-old Cassandra told ABC News.

(I don't know if we should take up the time of the police of having to arrest students who take part in a food fight. Perhaps these students should have been given a paddling, made to clean up what they did, and have to work in the school kitchen, etc. Read more of the above story right here.)

Church bells to ring out warning on climate change...

The World Council of Churches on Thursday called on churches around the world to ring their bells 350 times during the Copenhagenclimate change summit on December 13 as a call to action on global warming.

The leading council of Christian and Orthodox churches also invited places of worship for other faiths to join a symbolic "chain of chimes and prayers" stretching around the world from the international date line in the South Pacific.(Church bells to ring out warning on climate change... )

( I am sorry this is something I don't believe churches should be doing. Let me make it clear I want a clean climate. I pick up my trash. However the World Council of Churches look at things from the left. They have no trouble backing the evil government of Cuba. They don't believe or at least act like they believe the Bible is God's word. )

Lou Dobbs Quits CNN...

CNN's Lou Dobbs, a lightning rod for criticism following his transition from a business journalist to an opinionated anchor on such issues as illegal immigration, told viewers on Wednesday that he was quitting his nightly show to pursue new opportunities.

"This will be my last broadcast," Dobbs said after giving the day's headlines. Dobbs, who hosts a daily radio show unrelated to CNN, said the network had allowed him to be released early from his contract.

Dobbs was a CNN original, signing on when the cable network started in 1980. For much of that time, he hosted a nightly business broadcast that became one of the most influential shows in the corporate world, and CNN's most profitable show for advertising revenue.

But Dobbs said his world view changed after the 2001 terrorist attacks and corporate corruption scandals, and he began to more freely express his opinions.

(It looks like  more and more people who look at things the way the right does are leaving CNN. Read more  Lou Dobbs Quits CNN...

The Good Guys Need to be Able to Defend

On the big day, the 91-year-old woman sets her alarm clock for just after dawn.

She pulls on a blouse and two sweaters to protect against the autumn chill. She eats a banana and drinks a glass of orange juice to guard against the fatigue that sneaks up on her before noon.

And then she sits at her kitchen table, her red, white and blue cane resting by her side.

Peg Gallagher sits, and she prepares herself for the day to come. A car ride downtown. An anti-war protest in the lobby of the Qwest Center Omaha to disrupt a military conference.

On the eve of the first Persian Gulf War, she did something that still makes her smile today.  ( Slice: Still putting herself on the line  )

Peg Gallagher, a Catholic who attends Mass every Saturday night, gathered the religious leaders of a dozen denominations. She organized an all-faiths service where priests, ministers, rabbis and imams took the microphone, one after another, and called for peace.

The first time she got arrested was in front of the White House. Another time, police arrested her in front of Offutt Air Force Base.

(Peg Gallagher needs to understand that if the good guys can't defend us we will have people like Hitler running the world and destroying it.)

Silent DC sniper mastermind Muhammad executed

Sniper John Allen Muhammad refused to utter any last words as he was executed, taking to the grave answers about why and how he plotted the killings of 10 people that terrorized the Washington, D.C., area for three weeks in October 2002.

The 48-year-old died by injection at 9:11 p.m. Tuesday as relatives of the victims watched from behind glass, separated from the rest of the 27 witnesses at Greensville Correctional Center, south of Richmond.

Muhammad was executed for killing Dean Harold Meyers, who was shot in the head at a Manassas gas station during the spree across Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

(It is too bad this killer didn't express sorrow for his crimes. He has now faced the Supreme Judge as we all will.  Read more on this story  Silent DC sniper mastermind Muhammad executed .)

Islam and the Military --

Last week at Fort Hood as a Muslim Army major shot 46 of his fellow soldiers and murdered 13 of them.
WorldNetDaily reports that this alleged Army terrorist was serving as a substitute chaplain for other Muslims on that base.
Meanwhile, Walid Shoebat, a former Muslim and PLO member, has been turned down from speaking at several military bases because the leadership didn’t want to hear anything that presents Islam negatively.
(This sounds like a double standard to me. Read more on this issue http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=115466. Also read a  commentary about this issue Transcript or listen to the audio Islam and the Military.) --

Fort Hood Horror and the Media

Horror spread quickly across America as the story unfolded: An Army psychiatrist went on a shooting rampage at Fort Hood in Texas, killing 13 and wounding 30. But as more information emerged, clearly pointing to an act of terrorism, many in the "news" media simply chose not to report news.

By late afternoon, it emerged that the shooter's name was Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan. But that night, CBS and NBC completely avoided mentioning that the shooter was a Muslim. ABC's Charles Gibson suggested he was a "Muslim convert," which wasn't right, but at least he wasn't playing hide-and-seek with the facts. ABC reporter Martha Raddatz spoke for the media in choosing this tidbit: "As for the suspect, Nidal Hasan, as one officer's wife told me, 'I wish his name was Smith.'"

(The above is part of a column written by Brent Bozell. More of the column is below.)

The coverage grew more factual the next morning, with all the networks noting Hasan was Muslim, and that he shouted "Allahu akbar" (God is great) as he opened fire. ABC's Diane Sawyer, though, repeated Raddatz: "We heard Martha Raddatz say last night that the wife of a soldier said, 'I wish his name had been Smith,' so no one would have a reflexive question about that."

A reflexive question, as in "If a Muslim extremist attacks an Army base shouting 'Allahu akbar!' while spraying semi-automatic fire, killing and wounding dozens, is it terrorism?" Ms. Sawyer had nothing to worry about.

THEME: Let's not be too quick to judge these Muslims. After all, we have our Christian nut cases, too.

A Boston Globe op-ed by Harvard professor Harvey Cox: "If some seem ready to die for faith, others are ready to kill for it, gunning down abortion doctors in church, hijacking planes, and exploding bombs at weddings." On CBS, Bob Schieffer energetically sought full moral equivalence: "And you know Islam doesn't have a majority -- or the Christian religion has its full, you know, full helping of nuts, too."

(Every pro lifer and Christian quickly condemned the killing of the abortion doctor. Also to say every faith has their nut cases. I don't see people of other faiths besides Islam sending people to do killings like happen here in America on 9-11. Read more of the above column  Fort Hood Horror.)

Warnings May Have Been Missed...

The Pentagon said it was never notified by U.S. intelligence agencies that they had intercepted emails between the alleged Fort Hood shooter and an extremist imam until after last week's bloody assaults, raising new questions about whether the government could have helped prevent the attack.

A top defense official said federal investigators didn't tell the Pentagon they were looking into months of contacts between Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan and Anwar al-Awlaki. The imam knew three of the Sept. 11 hijackers and hailed Maj. Hasan as a "hero" after the shooting last week at Fort Hood that left 13 people dead.

"Based on what we know now, neither the United States Army nor any other organization within the Department of Defense knew of Maj. Hasan's contacts with any Muslim extremists," the official said. (Warnings May Have Been Missed...  )

(If the above is correct heads should roll. Those who have the job of keeping us safe should embrace the fact we are in a war with radical Islam. )
