Larry King and T.D. Jake on Abortion , and Health Care

( Below is part of an interview Larry King had last night with Pastor  T.D. Jakes.)

KING: His new book is "The Memory Quilt." It's his third novel. We'll be asking about it in a little while. Abortion is now part of the health care debate. The House only passed after abortion limitations were put on it. Senators were in an uproar about it, Barbara Boxer (INAUDIBLE).

What do you feel about abortion and health care?

JAKES: Well, you know, the thing about it, I think that the health care in this country really needs to be overhauled. And I'm glad that we're having the conversation about it in this country right now. I would hate to see abortion derail and divide our country at a time that we have millions of people who are dying of leukemia and diabetes and -- and other diseases because they can't get the care that they need.

And I think when you add abortion onto the ticket, it's going to be a point of division. It's back to politics as usual. It's divisive of our nation. I think as we go along, however, we will continue to improve and enhance the health care and eventually it may become a -- a point of discussion.

KING: Do you agree with a woman's right to choose? JAKES: I'm -- I -- I support the right to life, you know. That's -- that's my position on it.

KING: You're against abortion?

JAKES: I'm against abortion, personally. I'm against abortion. And I think that one of the things that's important to me -- for me, life begins at conception. My understanding of it makes me believe that life begins at conception.

The great thing about this country is that we have so many diverse people. And I respect other people's views who see it differently from what I do. I'm not narrow minded.

But that -- that's my opinion about it. But I would hate to see that stop us from getting health care to people who really need it.

(So we should have  health care reform and not let abortion sidetrack us. Also what kind of health care reform should we get? These are questions this Pastor needs to do some more thinking on at least in my humble view. Read the whole   Interview with T.D. Jakes.)

Obama condemned for indifference to China church persecution

As President Barack Obama prepares for his first visit to China, leaders of the unapproved churches there are condemning his administration for indifference to the increasing persecution they are facing. ( Obama condemned for indifference to China church persecution)

The latest example of that persecution came Sunday as followers of an unapproved church in Beijing were again forced by the government to find a new place to worship.

Worship in China, governed by the officially atheist Communist Party, is allowed only in state-approved churches, but millions of people belong to unregistered churches that often face official harassment.

(Obama will go after Fox news and those of us on the right but he leaves the evil leaders of China alone. Explain that if you can.)

Preachers: Hate crimes law won't silence them

Conservative Christians who fear the new federal hate crimes law will be used to silence criticism of homosexuality have rallied outside the Justice Department in Washington.

The law states that people cannot be prosecuted on the basis of their speech, beliefs or association.

But ministers at Monday's rally worried they could be charged with inciting a hate crime if someone who heard them call homosexual behavior sinful attacked a gay or lesbian.

The Rev. Rick Scarborough, president of Vision America, vowed that if the hate crimes law is used to squelch preaching against homosexuality, he and other ministers will defy the law.

(Those who follow the Bible and a   King not in this world need to obey God rather than man. If by obeying a human made law you would disobey God you need not to obey the man made law and obey God.  Read more of the above story right here.)

Russia - pastors fined for service

Two pastors in Russia were recently fined for holding a worship service in public.
Todd Nettleton, a spokesman with Voice of the Martyrs, wonders if this situation is the beginning of an unfavorable sequence.

"It' hard to know if this is part of a pattern [or] if this is an isolated incident," he speculates. "It's one of those things where you watch what happens... and then you see [if] there [is] more coming. We do know the Russian government has exercised a little more control or a little more oversight over the church in recent months." (Russia - pastors fined for service  )
(This sounds like the old USSR. We need to watch this and pray for the people of faith in Russia.)

Sex ed. vs. abstinence

A federal official blames abstinence education for the increase in sexually transmitted diseases. John Douglas of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control suggests that comprehensive sex education rather than abstinence is the cure for the problem. Valerie Huber, head of the National Abstinence Education Association, disagrees and feels that the education young people are receiving about STDs is inaccurate.
"If you look at the sex education that is being promoted and funded by taxpayer dollars, the bulk of it is going towards so-called 'comprehensive sex education,' which mistakenly tells young people that as long as they use a condom, they can engage in any kind of sexual activity they want," she reports.

Huber ultimately says Douglas is wrong because students are hearing an erroneous message, and for that reason STD infections have increased. She says the only cure is abstinence. The House has deleted funds for abstinence education, but Huber says the Senate version of healthcare carries hope.
(Kids are getting sick and ending up dead because they are being told as long as they take part in safe sex use a condom  they don't have anything to worry about. Where young people embrace  abstinence they are not getting some kind of sexual illness. Shame on our leaders for not pushing more abstinence education. Christian leader fights for public vote on DC gay marriage

Traditional marriage advocates in Washington, DC are telling city officials "We'll see you in court."

The DC Board of Elections and Ethics ruled yesterday that a measure to let voters decide whether to ban same-sex marriages in DC cannot go on the ballot.

Bishop Harry Jackson Jr., who heads the group Stand for Marriage DC, says an important civil right of same-sex marriage opponents is being violated in the District.

"The Home Rule Charter tells us that we should have the same rights as the DC Board of Elections and as the DC City Council," Jackson contends.  "In other words, if they can vote on something, we can vote on something.  If they can initiate a law, we should be able to initiate a law, as what is done in Maine and California." (Christian leader fights for public vote on DC gay marriage  )

(So the people of D.C. won't get a chance to vote. I wonder if this is because those who are pushing this believe the people would reject same sex marriage.)

Is America at war, or not?

Are we at war – or not?

For if we are at war, why is Khalid Sheikh Mohammed headed for trial in federal court in the Southern District of New York? Why is he entitled to a presumption of innocence and all of the constitutional protections of a U.S. citizen?

Is it possible we have done an injustice to this man by keeping him locked up all these years without trial? For that is what this trial implies – that he may not be guilty.

And if we must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that KSM was complicit in mass murder, by what right do we send Predators and Special Forces to kill his al-Qaida comrades wherever we find them? For none of them has been granted a fair trial.

(The above is part of a column written by Pat Buchanan. Read more of the column below.)

Is the Obama administration aware of what it is risking by not turning KSM over to a military tribunal in Guantanamo?

How does Justice handle a defense demand for a change of venue, far from lower Manhattan, where the jury pool was most deeply traumatized by Sept. 11? Would not KSM and his co-defendants, if a change of venue is denied, have a powerful argument for overturning any conviction on appeal?

Were not KSM's Miranda rights impinged when he was not only not told he could have a lawyer on capture, but that his family would be killed and he would be waterboarded if he refused to talk?

There have been reports that in the trials of those convicted in the first World Trade Center bombing, sources and methods were compromised, weakening our security for the second attack on Sept. 11.

If the trial is held in lower Manhattan, how much security will be needed to protect against a car bomber who wants the world to see a mighty blow struck against the Great Satan? And if, as some suggest, the trial should be held on Governor's Island, would that not make the United States look like a nation under siege?

What do we do if the case against KSM is thrown out because the government refuses to reveal sources or methods, or if he gets a hung jury, or is acquitted, or has his conviction overturned?

In America, trials often become games, where the prosecution, though it has truth on its side, loses because it inadvertently breaks one of the rules.

The Obamaites had best pray that does not happen, for they may be betting his presidency on the outcome of the game about to begin.

(Amen Pat.  Obama will be in trouble if something happens because of this trial being held in the Big Apple. Do read the whole column  right here.)

'No' to Jesus, 'yes' to Allah

The nation's largest public policy women's organization is calling on members of the United States Senate to reject the appointment of President Barack Obama's first judicial nominee who has said 'no' to Jesus, but 'yes' to Allah.

David Hamilton (7th Circuit Court of Appeals)Judge David Hamilton is being voted on by the Senate on Tuesday, November 17 for a seat on the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago.

Many conservatives are concerned about Hamilton's appointment because of his rocky history. Hamilton has served as a fundraiser for ACORN, a liberal group plagued with voter fraud charges and other questionable practices. He also once gave the order to stop prayers at the Indiana State House in the name of Jesus, but later stated that praying in the name of Allah was okay.

(It looks like this judge has a double stranded. Yes to the God of Islam but no to Jesus the God of the Christian faith. Read more on this issue 'No' to Jesus, 'yes' to Allah.)

GOP Senator supports leftist judge nominee

Some congressional Republicans are threatening a filibuster to block confirmation of a federal appeals court nominee because of his religious rulings. But they won't get the support of Indiana GOP Senator, Richard Lugar. ( GOP Senator supports leftist judge nominee )

In 2005, Judge David Hamilton ruled that the Indiana House of Representatives could not open its sessions with prayers that mentioned Jesus Christ or used terms like "savior."

Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions noted that Hamilton was willing, however, to allow a Muslim cleric to offer invocations that mention Allah.

( It looks to me like Sen. Sessions is helping radical followers of Islam reach their goal of running America. Today you can't say anything bad about the Islam faith but it is ok what ever is said about the Christian faith is ok.)

Boy Who Won't Say Pledge

CNN on Monday featured a fifth grade student who is refusing to say the Pledge of Allegiance in his classroom until gays and lesbians have equal rights.
During the interview, the boy's father accurately noted, "Well, actually before we heard from anybody, my first thought was oh, my God, this is the type of thing you see on CNN.
(This child  looks like has had the views of the radical left pushed down him. I don't blame the kid but it looks like him along with his father needs a trip to the woodshed. Also if I was the teacher and this child wouldn't  stand for the flag perhaps he would be standing out in the hall. This should make us all proud of our government schools, Not!  To see the video of this child and his dad talking to CNN Boy Who Won't Say Pledge Till Gays Have Equal Rights. )

New mammogram advice raises questions, concerns

For many women, getting a mammogram is already one of life's more stressful experiences.

Now, women in their 40s have the added anxiety of trying to figure out if they should even be getting one at all.

A government task force said Monday that most women don't need mammograms in their 40s and should get one every two years starting at 50 — a stunning reversal and a break with the American Cancer Society's long-standing position. What's more, the panel said breast self-exams do no good, and women shouldn't be taught to do them.

The news seemed destined to leave many deeply confused about whose advice to follow.

"I've never had a scare, but isn't it better to be safe than sorry?" asked Beth Rosenthal, 41, sitting in a San Francisco cafe on Monday afternoon with her friend and their small children. "I've heard of a lot of women in their 40s, and even 30s, who've gotten breast cancer. It just doesn't seem right to wait until 50."

( I am sorry I just wonder if  we get forced government health care this a way government wants to save money. Read more on this issue

Abortion clause raises problems

The US Senate could start debating its final healthcare reform bill as early as Tuesday, pitting Democrat against Democrat over the controversial question of abortion coverage.

The debate puts Barack Obama, who campaigned as pro-choice, in the middle of one of the most emotional and enduring debates in US politics, potentially forcing him to take sides on an issue he has tried to avoid since becoming president. (Abortion clause raises problems for Obama...  )

Harry Reid, the Democratic leader in the upper chamber, is “still consulting with members of his caucus” on the abortion issue, one aide said, and it is not yet clear whether he will include the restrictions.

“This is a horrible dilemma,” said Larry Sabato, a political science professor at the University of Virginia. “The Democrats have to pass something – they have no choice,” he said, adding that they have backed themselves into a corner by making healthcare reform a priority.

( I am sorry this isn't so tough you either vote for the unborn children and against abortion or you vote for abortion.)
