The elderly white supremacist charged with killing a security guard at the U.S.
Holocaust Memorial Museum in June died Wednesday afternoon at a North Carolina
hospital, authorities said.
James von Brunn's public defender says he
was very sick, and he says this was a sad end to a tragic situation. Stephen
Tyrone Johns, 39, was killed in the shootout. (Von
Brunn's Death Shocks Johns Family )
For a family waiting for
justice, the news came as a shock. Johns' mother reacted to the sudden
death.
"My first thought was I hope he asked for forgiveness before he passed. I
hope he did," said Jacqueline Carter, Johns' Mother in a gentle voice.
She knows the dangers of hate. It's why the news of the death of her
son's accused killer brings no joy.
"It would profit me nothing to go around with hatred in my heart. He had it
in his, so if I have it in mine, then I am no different," said Carter.
(There is no joy in the death of anyone including a man who did something evil and hated others. Jacqueline Carter showed class in what she said. Lets join her in hoping this man asked the Lord to forgive him because he has now come face to face with a Jew who is the King of Kings. )
