Political asylum for home schoolers

A German couple who fled to Tennessee so they could home school their children has been granted political asylum by an immigration judge in Memphis. (See earlier story)

The decision clears the way for Uwe Romeike his wife and five children to stay in Morristown, Tennessee, where they have been living since 2008.

Uwe Romeike and children (compliments of Assoc. Press)German law requires children to attend public or private schools, and parents can face fines or prison time if they don't comply. Romeike, an evangelical Christian, said he believes Germany's curriculum is "against Christian values."

(It is time to be able to report some good news. How sad that good people who want to do what is best for their children got in trouble just for wanting to educate their children at home. Read more on this issue Political asylum for home schoolers.)

Stamping out Mother Teresa's postal debu

An atheist organization wants the image of Mother Teresa removed from a U.S. postage stamp.

The Freedom from Religion Foundation (FFRF) is calling for cancellation of the stamp based on the alleged separation of church and state. Brad Dacus, president of the Pacific Justice Institute, believes the motion is outrageous.

"For her to be excluded simply because of her religious background for her incredible public service to humanity would be a deplorable act by government and uncalled for," he comments. (Stamping out Mother Teresa's postal debut  )

(If there is no God like this group preaches what difference does it make if  Mother Teresa is on a postage stamp or not. This group wants to take all faith out of the culture.  I bet no one who belongs to this group as done anything close to the good works that Mother Teresa did to help the poor and needy around the world.)

Hagel's opinions on D.C. topics

Former Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., gave his opinions Monday on several hot-button political topics, including these.

On Obama: Hagel said the president is doing a generally good job and gave him credit for restoring the U.S. image around the world. Hagel commended Obama for taking on health care, even though the president “probably got too far ahead of the public” on some aspects of the issue. Overall, he said, President Obama is “a solid president for this country. (Hagel's opinions on D.C. topics  )

(So Mr. Hagel  thinks that Obama is making people around the world think better of America. There was a day when we wanted our leader to do what is right and best for America instead of being worried what others thought of us. Also where has Obama gotten anything for America because others like him. )

Controversy Over Pro-Life Super Bowl Ad Featuring Tim Tebow

(Below  is part of a transcript from "The O'Reilly Factor," from last night's program.  )

BILL O'REILLY, HOST: In the "Impact" segment tonight: the first big Super Bowl controversy. This year CBS is charging more than $2 million for a 30 second commercial during the game, if you can believe it.

Conservative Focus on the Family organization pony up the money to run an ad about abortion. The commercial stars Tim Tebow and his mother. Apparently Mrs. Tebow was told to have an abortion for health reasons, but obviously did not.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

TIM TEBOW, UNIV. OF FLORIDA QUARTERBACK: I don't feel like I'm very preachy about it but I do stand up for what I believe. And at least you can respect that. Because I do stand up. And unfortunately in today's society, not many athletes tend to do that that. And that's the reason I'm here is because my mom is a very courageous woman. And you know, once they know in a lot of circumstances. So you know, that's the reason I'm here. I'm very thankful for that.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

O'REILLY: All right. With us now, Jehmu Greene, president of the Women's Media Center, who wants CBS is abort the ad, so to speak.

GREENE: Well, I can't imagine the decision that the Tebows had to face when given the news about the pregnancy. And I think it's that very choice that Pam Tebow was allowed to make about her reproductive health decisions that this ad is trying to take away for all American women.

O'REILLY: Why would it do that though? If it's a positive ad that I made my choice and it was the right choice and I'm happy we made the choice and Tim obviously is happy, why is that trying to take anything away from anybody? It's a positive statement.

GREENE: This is clearly a thinly veiled attempt to undermine a woman's right to…

O'REILLY: How?

GREENE: ...make decisions about her reproductive decisions.

O'REILLY: How? How is it though? I don't understand how it undermines anything. It just tells their story.

GREENE: I think it tells a story of a woman who had that right…

O'REILLY: Right.

GREENE: Clearly, clearly Focus on the Family has an anti-choice agenda. They also have…

O'REILLY: Whoa, whoa, whoa. That's true, Focus on the Family's…

GREENE: ...a homophobic agenda.

O'REILLY: Wait, wait, wait.

GREENE: They're…

O'REILLY: Now you're attacking the group and not the ad. I don't know if that's fair. Let's stay on the ad. Focus on the Family, as you rightly point out, is a pro-life group.

O'REILLY: They don't like abortion, OK. But that doesn't mean everything they do is bad. And that doesn't mean everything they advertise should be banned, does it?

O'REILLY: Are you offended — wait, wait, hold it. Are you offended that Tim Tebow's alive?

(MS. Greene is showing that those who claim to be pro choice aren't really pro choice they are pro death. They only want the freedom of choice when the mother will decide to abort the baby. I thought O'Reilly made a great point when he said are you offended that Tim Tebow is alive.  Read the whole transcript Controversy Over Pro-Life Super Bowl Ad Featuring Tim Tebow .)

Obama Will Call For Repeal Of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'...

President Obama will ask Congress Wednesday night to repeal the military's "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy that bars gays and lesbians from openly serving, White House Senior Adviser David Axelrod told CNN.

The request will be included in the president's State of the Union address, Axelrod said.

The issue has been a source of contention for heavy hitters on both sides of the issue, who are lining up for a fight.

(All of us who care about America and faith based values need to come together to oppose this move by Obama. This issue shouldn't be about rights  but what is best for those who are defending America. The  military is not the right place to try to change the culture or  push an agenda.  Read more on this issue Obama Will Call For Repeal Of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell'.)

Rules for Wisconsin high school dance...

--Like many educators nationwide, administrators at a Wisconsin high school are aiming to curb risque moves at an upcoming school dance. To assure that Union Grove High School students do not get too footloose, school brass have issued official dance rules for the January 30 winter formal.  The rules outlaw "sexual bending" and the touching of breasts, buttocks, or genitals. Leg straddling is also verboten. Additionally, students are on notice that "Both feet must remain on the dance floor at all times." ('Sexual bending' outlawed at Wisconsin high school dance...  )
( I understand why the leader's of this school  are writing down rules for their dance but if  these same schools would allow  values to be taught in the classroom including in the sex education class I wonder if these rules would be  needed. Also should we not expect bad behavior when the author of life is removed from much of culture including the government schools. )

Los Angeles council votes to close most pot dispensaries

The Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday tentatively approved an ordinance to close most of the city's medical marijuana dispensaries, winding down months of debate on how to limit the rapid spread of such clinics.

The ordinance, if passed next week by a simple majority of the 15-member council, would cap the number of dispensaries at 70 and require them to be at least 1,000 feet from "sensitive uses" — schools, parks and other public gathering spots.

The local law would put an end to the proliferation of pot dispensaries. As many as 1,000 have cropped up over the past few years. The ordinance would also likely force remaining clinics that comply to move to industrial areas because of the distance requirement.

(I hope this helps stop the push some are giving to those involved in making or selling drugs which  are  destroying families, and  America which includes the city of Los  Angeles. Read more on this story Los Angeles council votes to close most pot dispensaries.)

Oliver Stone: Hitler was 'enabled by Western bankers'...

Adolf Hitler was a psychopath and a monster but rose to power thanks to big business leaders and other supporters who appreciated his vow to destroy communism and control workers, Hollywood filmmaker Oliver Stone said Monday. (Oliver Stone: Hitler was 'enabled by Western bankers')

Stone, who is working on a 10-part documentary on the 20th century titled "The Secret History of the United States," said the German dictator was "enabled by Western bankers" and managed to "seduce" Germany's military industrial complex.

"Hitler is a monster. There is no question. I have no empathy for Hitler at all. He was a crazy psychopath," Stone told reporters in the Thai capital. "But like Frankenstein was a monster, there was a Dr. Frankenstein. He is product of his era."

(Those on the left keep blaming big business. What about blaming the people of Germany who elected Hitler to office.I know it is always America and rich white men who are to blame. )

President to propose 'spending freeze'...

Under mounting pressure to rein in mammoth budget deficits, President Obama will propose in his State of the Union address a three-year freeze on federal funding that is not related to national security, a concession to public concern about government spending that could dramatically curtail Obama's legislative ambitions.

The freeze would take effect in October and limit the overall budget for agencies other than the military, veterans affairs, homeland security and certain international programs to $447 billion a year for the remainder of Obama's first term, senior administration officials said Monday, imposing sharp limits on his ability to begin initiatives in education, the environment and other areas of domestic policy.

The spending freeze would affect only about one-eighth of the nation's $3.5 trillion budget, the bulk of which is devoted to entitlement programs such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, which are responsible for much of the future increase in spending. It would not restrain funding for the $787 billion economic stimulus package Obama pushed through Congress early last year, nor would it apply to a new bill aimed at creating jobs, which Democrats have identified as their top priority in the run-up to November's congressional elections.

(If this report is correct and Obama   does want to cut spending good. If  this is some kind of political trick or spending will be covered up that is not the way to go. However if Obama is trying to cut spending  everyone including those on the right should give him a thumbs up. Read more on this issue President to propose 'spending freeze'.)
