Breaking News: Jury Finds Man Guilty of Murder in Kansas Abortion Provider's Death -

A man who said he killed prominent Kansas abortion provider Dr. George Tiller in order to save the lives of unborn children was convicted Friday of murder.

The jury deliberated for just 37 minutes before finding Scott Roeder, 51, of Kansas City, Mo., guilty of premeditated, first-degree murder in the May 31 shooting death.

He faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years when he is sentenced March 9. Prosecutor Nola Foulston said she would pursue a so-called "Hard 50" sentence, which would require Roeder to serve at least 50 years before he can be considered for parole.

(I hope this has brought some peace along with a feeling of  justice to Tiller's family and will  help them to see all human life is a gift from God and should be valued. As I  posted before this killer might say he did  this to save unborn babies but this act was an anti life act. It has hurt the pro life movement. Nelson: No plans to hang up in 2012

U.S. Sen. Ben Nelson says there's plenty of fight left in him.

The Nebraska Democrat, whose job approval rating has dropped below 50 percent, told The World-Herald on Thursday that he expects to seek re-election in two years.

“I can stand the heat, so I'm staying in the kitchen,” Nelson said in an interview.

He added: “I have no plans to hang it up in 2012.” (Nelson: No plans to hang up in 2012  )

( I wonder if Mr. Nelson will change his mind about running again.  I hope the good people here in Nebraska will not forget his vote on health care. I hope he does run again and the Nebraska voters bring him home from Washington D.C. )

A Lesson on Faith (New Book)

A Christian who commanded a Marine platoon in Iraq has written a book about his experiences and how faith played a major role on and off the battlefield. Donovan Campbell was an intelligence officer during his first tour of Iraq, and on his second tour he commanded a platoon of about 40 Marines in Ramadi.

Abortion Doctor Slaying Was Anti Life Act

Jurors must decide whether a man who openly confessed to killing a Kansas abortion provider committed murder now that defense attorneys have lost their bid for a lesser charge of manslaughter.

Scott Roeder's lawyers failed to show that Dr. George Tiller posed an imminent threat and therefore will not be allowed to ask jurors to consider a voluntary manslaughter charge, District Judge Warren Wilbert ruled Thursday. Wilbert also noted abortion is legal in Kansas.

Voluntary manslaughter required the defense to show Roeder had an unreasonable but honest belief that deadly force was justified. Roeder says he acted to save the lives of unborn children.

Jurors return to the courtroom Friday to hear closing arguments and jury instructions before beginning deliberations.

Wilbert also refused to allow them to consider a second-degree murder conviction, which does not involve premeditation, because the evidence — and Roeder's own testimony — clearly showed Roeder planned the shooting.

(Those of us who are pro life must do all we can to stop abortion. However we must never do anything that is anti life and those of us who are not only pro life but followers of Jesus must do nothing to dishonor  our Lord. Two wrongs don't make a right. The killing of this doctor was an anti life act and didn't bring honor to the Lord. How sad. Read more of the above story Jury to consider if abortion slaying was murder.)

Blair offers justification for Iraq war

An unrepentant Tony Blair defended his decision to join the United States in attacking Iraq, arguing Friday before a panel investigating the war that the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks made the threat of weapons of mass destruction impossible to ignore.

The former British Prime Minister said that before Sept. 11 he thought "Saddam was a menace, that he was a threat, he was a monster, but we would have to try and make the best of it."

The attacks on New York and Washington changed everything, he said. (Blair offers justification for Iraq war)

"After that time, my view was you could not take risks with this issue at all," he said.

This is Britain's third and widest-ranging investigation of the conflict, which triggered huge protests and left 179 British troops dead. The British military withdrew from Iraq last year.

(No matter what you think of Tony Blair. He was a good friend to America and I missed him as a leader in the U.K. He also cared about fighting evil too bad we don't have more friends like him.)

OBAMA ORDERS JUSTICE TO MOVE TERROR TRIAL OUT OF NYC

The White House ordered the Justice Department Thursday night to consider other places to try the 9/11 terror suspects after a wave of opposition to holding the trial in lower Manhattan.

The dramatic turnabout came hours after Mayor Bloomberg said he would "prefer that they did it elsewhere" and then spoke to Attorney General Eric Holder.

"It would be an inconvenience at the least, and probably that's too mild a word for people that live in the neighborhood and businesses in the neighborhood," Bloomberg told reporters.

"There are places that would be less expensive for the taxpayers and less disruptive for New York City."

State and city leaders have increasingly railed against a plan to try Khalid Shaikh Mohammed in Manhattan federal court since Holder proposed it last month.

Sen. Chuck Schumer said he was "pleased" that the administration is reconsidering the location of the trial.

(If this report is correct this is the right move by President Obama. However if he is moving it to another  court room  here in America  instead of giving it back to the military that is not the way to go. Read more on this issue PAPER: OBAMA ORDERS JUSTICE TO MOVE TERROR TRIAL OUT OF NYC.)

Standing up to Leaders

There is no doubt in my mind that Republicans want to do anything to make President Obama look bad and weak. Some have even expressed hope that he would meet his Waterloo. It’s a sad day in America when we have senators hoping our president will fail and not wishing him to do well.

Just because we have a two-party system doesn’t mean we have to fight on every issue. If we all worked together for the good of the country, we would be a much stronger country. It’s a shame when the GOP is determined to make the president fail on one issue so it can tear him down.

As a former member of the GOP, I had to get out because there is so much hatred toward our president.
(The above is part of a letter that was in my local paper. To hear the whole letter and to  find out my thoughts on standing up to a leader please watch a video I posted last night on You Tube standing up to Leaders. When I posted the video not all of it was posted but I think you will get the idea anyway.)

JUSTICE ALITO MOUTHS 'NOT TRUE' TO OBAMA...

POLITICO's Kasie Hunt, who's in the House chamber, reports that Justice Samuel Alito mouthed the words "not true" when President Barack Obama criticized the Supreme Court's campaign finance decision.

"Last week, the Supreme Court reversed a century of law to open the floodgates for special interests — including foreign corporations — to spend without limit in our elections," Obama said. "Well I don’t think American elections should be bankrolled by America’s most powerful interests, or worse, by foreign entities. They should be decided by the American people, and that’s why I’m urging Democrats and Republicans to pass a bill that helps to right this wrong."

The shot of the black-robed Supreme Court justices, stone-faced, was priceless. (JUSTICE ALITO MOUTHS 'NOT TRUE' TO OBAMA...  )

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) stood up behind the justices and clapped vigorously while Alito shook his head and quietly mouthed his discontent.

(We are headed down a dangerous road if a President is going to tell the highest court in the land how to rule or how it should decide a case and that is what Mr. Obama did last night.)

Gay Dating Site Ad During Super Bowl...

After days of deliberations on whether to run a controversial Super Bowl ad from gay dating site ManCrunch.com, CBS has not yet reached a decision.

The 30-second spot shows two men excitedly watching the game, before their hands brush as they both reach into a bowl of chips. Suddenly, the two begin making out, much to the shock of a guy sitting close by.   (CBS Considers Gay Dating Site Ad During Super Bowl...  )

According to a rep for the dating site, which operates under the slogan “Where Many Many Many Men Come Out to Play,” the ad was submitted on Monday, January 18th. When the site followed up on the status of the ad on Friday, January 22nd, they were told by CBS that “the spot hadn’t been officially approved yet" by network standards, and that "all the Super Bowl spots were sold out.”

SLIDESHOW: Click here to see famous banned Super Bowl ads.

(I hope CBS doesn't agree to play this ad but I wouldn't be shocked if they do. How sad and sick. )

Obama directly condemns Supreme Court

Obama  did something improper when he directly condemned the  Supreme Court; during his speech last night
for a ruling it made. The Judges were seating right there and some of them didn't look happy with his attack and the Democrats cheering what he said. Perhaps some of the Judges won't come to next year's address.

ObamaDeclares: 'I don't quit'...

Caught between disgruntled voters and a president urging them to press ahead on divisive issues such as health care, Democratic lawmakers must soon decide whether Barack Obama is leading them toward statesmanlike courage or political folly.

Obama used his first State of the Union speech Wednesday to try to hit the reset button on health care and to offer a hodgepodge of tax breaks and other incentives to create new jobs. He mixed overtures with digs toward Republicans. But he mainly addressed fellow Democrats, who still can enact his agenda if they overcome fears fueled by events such as last week's stunning GOP victory in the Massachusetts Senate race.

That setback may have cost Democrats their filibuster-proof Senate majority, Obama said, but "we still have the largest majority in decades, and the people expect us to solve some problems, not run for the hills."

(Obama doesn't still get it. He thinks he needs to keep trying what the people of America including those who live in a State like Mass. which most of the times votes to the left have said no to. Obama needs to change and stop pushing an agenda from the left. He needs to start by stopping his push for forced government health care and stop spending along with cutting taxes. Do I want Obama to fail as President? Yes I do but let me make it clear when I say that I want his policies to fail. If Obama changes his politics I will become his fan. The State of the Union

Last night President Obama gave his State of the Union Address.
What is the State of our Union. Here are some of my thoughts on that.
I believe the  economy will  improve. There is a saying I like tough times don't last but tough people do.
What concerns me the most is where America is far as our morals and values go. We have kicked God and faith out of our schools and much of culture.
People who stand up for family based values are being called people full of hate.
Those who follow the Bible are put down too much by the media and even by those who are running our nation.
The influence of the church is not what it once was because people see the church as a group of buildings instead of a group of people who are submitted to the Lordship of Jesus and his word - the Bible.
Still there is nothing that can stop God from giving us a spiritual change. We must repent and pray that God will change America. The Bible says there is nothing impossible for God to do. ( Luke 18:27)

Obama's State of the Union Address

Here are some of my thoughts on what President Obama said last night in his State of the Union address..
A. He kept blaming Bush:  I for one and I believe others feel the same way are getting tired of that. Obama is our President now and he needs to start accepting the blame for what is taking place here in America.
B. Health care: He said he will work with both parties on this. That was good to hear however haven't  Republicans given their ideas and have not even been welcomed at the behind the doors meetings they have had. He once again blamed those evil people who are part of the insurance company's.
Obama said some good things like drilling for oil but is he a man who can be trusted. I don't think so he said the health care talk would be covered on C-Span. Yet when it came time to do that he said no to C-Span. What Obama needs to do is cut taxes and spending. Then I will start believing what he says.
