Canadian Premier COMES TO USA for surgery

Newfoundland Premier Danny Williams will undergo heart surgery later this week in the United States.

Deputy premier Kathy Dunderdale confirmed the treatment at a news conference Tuesday, but would not reveal the location of the operation or how it would be paid for.

"He has gone to a renowned expert in the procedure that he needs to have done," said Ms. Dunderdale, who will become acting premier while Mr. Williams is away for three to 12 weeks. ( Canadian Premier COMES TO USA for surgery)

"In consultation with his own doctors, he's decided to go that route."

Mr. Williams' decision to leave Canada for the surgery has raised eyebrows over his apparent shunning of Canada's health-care system.

(If America's  health care system is so bad and we need to be more like those who have government health care why is the leader of a nation which has that kind of system coming here for a heart operation. Enough said.)

Rifqa's parents renege

The head of a Christian ministry dedicated to exposing the truth about Islam says she's not surprised that the Muslim parents of a Christian convert from Islam have decided to backtrack on an agreement that allows their daughter to stay with foster parents until her 18th birthday.

As previously reported, Ohio authorities recently announced a court settlement that permitted 17-year-old Rifqa Bary to remain free from her Muslim parents. The agreement would allow her stay in a foster home under state custody until she turns 18 in August, at which time she will be an adult and free to live where she chooses. ( Rifqa's parents renege )

W.L. Cati, founder of White Horse Ministries, the organization that helped the Sri Lanka native when she was in Florida, comments that this reaction is not unexpected.

"I'm not surprised," she states. "They're not going to give up. Anything that belongs to a Muslim is a possession. It's like their car just got stolen, and [they're] going to fight to get it back."

(Lets all hope and pray this judge doesn't change his mind. The truth is the faith of Islam commands that those who convert to another faith are to be killed.)

Officials to review military's homosexual ban

Defense Secretary Robert Gates is tapping two seasoned Pentagon officials to lead the military's first in-depth study on allowing openly homosexual service members, promising to try to spare more troops from being dismissed in the meantime.

An announcement of the study, expected Tuesday before the Senate Armed Services Committee, marks a major step toward President Barack Obama's goal of eliminating the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy, which is based on a 1993 law. Obama has called on Congress to repeal the law, but Democrats say they want more guidance on how to allow openly homosexual service members to serve without causing a major upheaval.

(No matter what study is done they need to talk to those who are in the Armed Services. Most of those who are serving in the Armed Services don't want things changed. Also no one is stopping anyone from serving in the Armed Services  because they are a homosexual. The only way someone  is kicked out is if they are making their  homosexual life public.  Find out more about this issue Officials to review military's homosexual ban.)

Obama's false claims taken to task

U.S. Supreme Court smallA conservative legal scholar and former member of the Federal Election Commission says President Obama made two claims in his State of the Union speech about the Supreme Court's decision in the Citizens United case that are "categorically and undeniable false." (See earlier story)
Hans von Spakovsky, a legal scholar at The Heritage Foundation, notes that Congress did not ban independent political expenditures by corporations and labor unions until 1947 -- but for three decades after the law was passed, the Supreme Court "went out of its way" to avoid upholding its constitutionality.
He says it is also "completely wrong" for the president to claim the Supreme Court has cleared the way for "foreign corporations" to spend without limit on U.S. elections.

"There's a federal statute," explains the scholar, "that bans foreign corporations, foreign governments, foreign political parties, and foreign individuals from not only contributing money to federal candidates, but they also cannot engage in what's called 'independent political expenditures.' (Obama's false claims taken to task  )
(Perhaps it was OK that Obama attacked the high court though I do have some problems with him doing that  but he was even more wrong with  his facts  on the case. President Obama if you are going to attack the court have the right facts.)

(Pain - the focus of Nebraska abortion debate

Nebraska's legislators have before them a bill that would ban late-term abortions. (Pain - the focus of Nebraska abortion debate )

State Senator Mike Flood, speaker of the Nebraska Legislature, recently introduced the "Abortion Pain Prevention Act" -- a measure that would ban abortions after 20 weeks in the womb. Flood believes babies should not be forced to experience the excruciating pain of abortion.

"The medical science shows that doctors right now [who are] performing neonatal surgeries on babies in the womb...administer anesthesia for the very reason that these babies do feel pain," the senator explains. "They grimace when pricked with a needle stick."

(Lets all hope and pray this bill will pass. When this bill is passed it  would make this Nebraskan proud of his home state. Of course we know the pro. death movement will do everything in it's power to fight this bill.)

Muslim group irked by 'Christian' comment from the Lancaster Mayor

The mayor of Lancaster, California, is being criticized for telling residents that their town is a growing Christian community and they should be proud of that.

Mayor R. Rex Parris made the remarks at the end of his annual State of the City address last week.

The Greater Los Angeles area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations has denounced the comments.

(OH my you can no longer say something which suggests an American city now has a majority of Christians. If this is not correct I challenge  those who are part of the Council on American-Islamic Relations to prove this  mayor is wrong. Read more on this issue Muslim group irked by 'Christian' comment.)
