Iowans stymied on marriage amendment vote

Iowans will not have a chance to vote on a constitutional amendment for marriage protection anytime soon.

Two rules were invoked in the State House to force a vote to send the proposed amendment to the people -- to no avail.

Iowa Family Policy Center"Unfortunately, we only had one Democrat who joined the Republicans in voting for marriage, and so almost to a person, the Democratic Caucus voted 'no' on marriage," reports Bryan English of the Iowa Family Policy Council. "And because they are the majority party and they have more votes, the marriage amendment did not proceed."

(It is too bad the voters of Iowa won't  get a chance to vote on this issue thanks to politics.  The voters of Iowa should remember this because no  Democrat State House member    except one should be able to  say they supported the right of voters to have a say on this issue.Read more on this issue Iowans stymied on marriage amendment vote.)

Remains of Christian filmmaker found in Haiti

The State Department has confirmed that a body found in rubble from the earthquake in Haiti is that of David Hames, who had been working on a filming project for the Christian children's ministry Compassion International. (See earlier story)

Hames and colleague Dan Woolley were in the Hotel Montana when the earthquake hit January 12. As the walls collapsed, Woolley made his way to an elevator shaft. He was rescued after spending 60 hours there. ( Remains of Christian filmmaker found in Haiti )

David & Renee HamesFamily spokesperson Melanie Dobson said, "We all know David loved Jesus, and we know that he is safe today, at home with our Heavenly Father. Now we will band together to care for his sweet wife and their two adopted children."

(Lets all keep the Hames family in our prayers. It is also good to know David was ready to see Jesus. Lets keep praying for all those in Haiti along with the different ministries who are trying to help them in the name of the loving God.)

Feds admit they wronged pro-lifers

Pro-life Wisconsin is raising serious questions about information gathered by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) since information was inappropriately shared with the Middleton (Wisconsin) Police Department.

Peggy Hamill (Pro Life Wisconsin)Peggy Hamill, director of Pro-Life Wisconsin, tells OneNewsNow the federal agency has acknowledged the "threat assessment."

.

The agency concluded law enforcement inappropriately engaged in the collection, retention, and sharing of information on groups protesting a University of Wisconsin abortion facility.

(Why is it  not OK to go after any group but those who are Bible believing Christians and those who hold views to the right . We leave radical followers of Islam alone even though they are the ones who  committed the 911 attacks. There was no reason to believe these pro lifers were going to do any harm. Their only crime was being pro life. Read more on this issue Feds admit they wronged pro-lifers .)

Girl, 6, Handcuffed, Committed Because Of Classroom Behavior -

A Port St. Lucie first-grade student was handcuffed and committed to a mental health facility because of her classroom behavior, and her parents are furious that the school took such extreme measures.

Mickey Shalansky explained Wednesday what he said happened to his 6-year-old daughter at Parkway Elementary.

"She couldn't put her in two handcuffs because her wrists are that small, so she put them both in the same handcuff and left marks on my daughter's arms," Shalansky told WPBF 25 News' Bob Kaple.

But a St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office report paints a much different picture. ( Girl, 6, Handcuffed, Committed Because Of Classroom Behavior)

Deputies said his daughter, Haley, got upset and stormed out her classroom when her teacher asked her to do something. The report said it then escalated into a temper tantrum in the principal's office.
According to the incident report, a deputy said Haley was out of control. It said she "kicked the wall, went over to the desk and threw the calculator, electric pencil sharpener, telephone, container of writing utensils and other objects across the desk."

She was then handcuffed.
(Perhaps this is another reason  that schools across America should be allowed to discipline kids more including  being allowed to paddle them. At the same time there are kids who do have mental health issues and we are asking teachers today to do too much. It use to be teachers just  had  to worry about was teaching reading and math but not today.)

Former President Clinton's Health

Former President Bill Clinton was recovering at his suburban home with his wife on Friday after leaving a Manhattan hospital where he underwent a heart procedure to fix a blocked artery.

Three black SUVs with tinted windows arrived around 7:45 a.m. Friday and pulled through the high gates at the house. The Westchester County hamlet of Chappaqua is about 35 miles north of New York City.

State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton was also at the family's home.

Clinton adviser Douglas Band said in a statement that Clinton left New York Presbyterian Hospital "in excellent health."

(We all should keep the Former President and his wife in our prayers and that includes us who don't agree with his politics and what he did while leading the nation. You can read more of the above story Bill Clinton returns home after heart procedure .)

Focus on Saving Marriages Instead of Fighting Same Sex Marriage

Indiana's House is now considering a constitutional amendment to protect marriage between one man and one woman.

The measure passed for the fourth time in the Senate with 80 percent of the vote -- and while its fate in the House is not certain, the Indianapolis Star says it is expected to "meet a quick death."

Micah Clark (AFA of IN)"The Senate has passed the Marriage Protection Act in Indiana, I believe, five times, and every time the Indiana House has rejected it, refused to give it a hearing or held it up in committee," laments Micah Clark, executive director at the American Family Association of Indiana.

(I have different thoughts on this issue. When a law is needed to protect marriage between one man and one women the chances are it is too late. Those who don't follow God are not about to submit to his will far as marriage goes. I also wish those who are fighting same sex marriage would focus more on saving marriages between one man and one  lady. Read more on this issue  Indiana marriage bill may get stalled again.)

Changing Gay Right Groups from Cal Thomas

THE RELENTLESS CAMPAIGN BY GAY RIGHTS GROUPS TO WIN ACCEPTANCE MAY HAVE PASSED THE POINT OF NO RETURN.

LAST WEEK, TOP MILITARY BRASS TESTIFIED THEY ARE FINE WITH REPEAL OF THE “DON’T ASK, DON’T TELL” POLICY AND NOW FAVOR HOMOSEXUALS SERVING OPENLY IN THE MILITARY.

THE UNSAVED ARE NOT GOING TO LISTEN TO US, BECAUSE THEY WON’T LISTEN TO GOD. WE SHOULD FOCUS MORE OF OUR ENERGIES AND RESOURCES BUILDING UP THE REAL CHURCH, CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS AND OURSELVES RATHER THAN FUTILE EFFORTS TO REPAIR PEOPLE WHO CANNOT BE FIXED THROUGH LAWS AND POLITICS. THEIR ONLY HOPE IS TRANSFORMATION FROM WITHIN

(The above is part of a radio commentary Cal Thomas did yesterday. Cal  is right we who follow the God of the Bible can't change anyone. We need to focus on building up the real church and Christian Schools and reaches others for God  who don't know him. God is the only one who can change a heart and soul. Read the whole commentary  right here

Moment of silence replaces prayer

Commissioners in Forsyth County, North Carolina, are deciding whether to appeal a court decision against conducting prayer at meetings.

Two atheist organizations sued the county because most of the invocations mentioned Jesus, and Judge James A. Beaty, Jr. recently ruled that the county cannot allow sectarian prayers before meetings. That allotted time at commissioners meetings will now be devoted to a moment of silence instead of prayer.  (  Moment of silence replaces prayer)

Mike Johnson of the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) is handling the case and cites the federal court's ruling. "Any reference to a sectarian deity, specifically a reference to Jesus, in a public invocation is somehow inherently unconstitutional," he reports.

(Why is it so often people who don't believe in God keep fighting him. How can this prayer hurt. America needs a spiritual and moral change. We should all pray God will bring  that. He is our only hope.)

Christians murdered, story overlooked

A pro-family leader wonders where the outrage is in the wake of the cold-blooded murder of two Christians who were street-witnessing in Florida.

Tite Sufra, 24, and 23-year-old Stephen Ocean were recently shot to death by a man they had witnessed to in Boynton Beach.

According to police, the men met 18-year-old Jeriah Woody and spoke with him for 15 minutes on the public sidewalk. The witnessing encounter was halted when Woody received a phone call and told the preachers he had to go. Police say as the pair walked away, Woody turned and followed them, pulled a gun and shot both men. He has been arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

Dr. Gary Cass of the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission wonders why the tragic murder has not received widespread media attention.

"Had these been other types of people -- perhaps two Muslim clerics or even two rabbis -- I know we would never hear the end of it," he comments.

(Dr. Cass has a good question. I also wonder if there will be any talk of charging this killer with a hate crime. OH that is right followers of Jesus are not part of a group which the left favors. Read more on this issue  Christians murdered, story overlooked.)

Hypocrisy seen in CAIR's complaint

A bestselling author and terrorism expert says it's absolute hypocrisy that a radical Islamic organization has filed a federal civil rights complaint against a Southern California mayor after stating during a recent talk that his city was "growing a Christian community."

Lancaster, California, is a desert bedroom community about 40 miles north of Los Angeles. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) recently sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Justice claiming Mayor R. Rex Parris violated the civil rights of non-Christians during his State of the City address. (  Hypocrisy seen in CAIR's complaint)

Robert Spencer, director of Jihad Watch, argues that "CAIR of course is completely inconsistent because it has never said a word about actual Muslim communities in the United States." He also adds that those are "closed communities [where] Islamic law is in force, and the mayor was expressing his personal sentiments as a believing Christian."

(Yes CAIR doesn't care about being fair. We are bending over backwards  to be fair to followers of Islam. They can follow their faith and what they believe but those who follow another faith don't have the same freedom. A person who is a follower of another faith don't have freedom to follow it in a Islam nation. )

'Day of Purity' on Friday

Liberty Counsel is encouraging young people to take an abstinence pledge before Valentine's Day.

This marks the seventh year Liberty Counsel has spearheaded the Day of Purity, and the observance asking young people to pledge to remain sexually pure until marriage will be marked on Friday.

Amber Haskew, national coordinator for the Day of Purity, says with an estimated 24,000 American teenagers contracting a sexually transmitted disease every day, the need for such an initiative is great.

(If young people will  wait until marriage  they will be kept safe far as getting a sexual illness. Those who think young people can't wait much not have much faith in today's youth. We teach young people to wait far as drinking goes why don't we believe the same far sex goes. Good for Liberty Counsel for doing this. Read more of the above story   'Day of Purity' on Friday.)
