Iowans stymied on marriage amendment vote

Iowans will not have a chance to vote on a constitutional amendment for marriage protection anytime soon.

Two rules were invoked in the State House to force a vote to send the proposed amendment to the people -- to no avail.

Iowa Family Policy Center"Unfortunately, we only had one Democrat who joined the Republicans in voting for marriage, and so almost to a person, the Democratic Caucus voted 'no' on marriage," reports Bryan English of the Iowa Family Policy Council. "And because they are the majority party and they have more votes, the marriage amendment did not proceed."

(It is too bad the voters of Iowa won't  get a chance to vote on this issue thanks to politics.  The voters of Iowa should remember this because no  Democrat State House member    except one should be able to  say they supported the right of voters to have a say on this issue.Read more on this issue Iowans stymied on marriage amendment vote.)

Remains of Christian filmmaker found in Haiti

The State Department has confirmed that a body found in rubble from the earthquake in Haiti is that of David Hames, who had been working on a filming project for the Christian children's ministry Compassion International. (See earlier story)

Hames and colleague Dan Woolley were in the Hotel Montana when the earthquake hit January 12. As the walls collapsed, Woolley made his way to an elevator shaft. He was rescued after spending 60 hours there. ( Remains of Christian filmmaker found in Haiti )

David & Renee HamesFamily spokesperson Melanie Dobson said, "We all know David loved Jesus, and we know that he is safe today, at home with our Heavenly Father. Now we will band together to care for his sweet wife and their two adopted children."

(Lets all keep the Hames family in our prayers. It is also good to know David was ready to see Jesus. Lets keep praying for all those in Haiti along with the different ministries who are trying to help them in the name of the loving God.)

Feds admit they wronged pro-lifers

Pro-life Wisconsin is raising serious questions about information gathered by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) since information was inappropriately shared with the Middleton (Wisconsin) Police Department.

Peggy Hamill (Pro Life Wisconsin)Peggy Hamill, director of Pro-Life Wisconsin, tells OneNewsNow the federal agency has acknowledged the "threat assessment."

.

The agency concluded law enforcement inappropriately engaged in the collection, retention, and sharing of information on groups protesting a University of Wisconsin abortion facility.

(Why is it  not OK to go after any group but those who are Bible believing Christians and those who hold views to the right . We leave radical followers of Islam alone even though they are the ones who  committed the 911 attacks. There was no reason to believe these pro lifers were going to do any harm. Their only crime was being pro life. Read more on this issue Feds admit they wronged pro-lifers .)

Girl, 6, Handcuffed, Committed Because Of Classroom Behavior -

A Port St. Lucie first-grade student was handcuffed and committed to a mental health facility because of her classroom behavior, and her parents are furious that the school took such extreme measures.

Mickey Shalansky explained Wednesday what he said happened to his 6-year-old daughter at Parkway Elementary.

"She couldn't put her in two handcuffs because her wrists are that small, so she put them both in the same handcuff and left marks on my daughter's arms," Shalansky told WPBF 25 News' Bob Kaple.

But a St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office report paints a much different picture. ( Girl, 6, Handcuffed, Committed Because Of Classroom Behavior)

Deputies said his daughter, Haley, got upset and stormed out her classroom when her teacher asked her to do something. The report said it then escalated into a temper tantrum in the principal's office.
According to the incident report, a deputy said Haley was out of control. It said she "kicked the wall, went over to the desk and threw the calculator, electric pencil sharpener, telephone, container of writing utensils and other objects across the desk."

She was then handcuffed.
(Perhaps this is another reason  that schools across America should be allowed to discipline kids more including  being allowed to paddle them. At the same time there are kids who do have mental health issues and we are asking teachers today to do too much. It use to be teachers just  had  to worry about was teaching reading and math but not today.)

Former President Clinton's Health

Former President Bill Clinton was recovering at his suburban home with his wife on Friday after leaving a Manhattan hospital where he underwent a heart procedure to fix a blocked artery.

Three black SUVs with tinted windows arrived around 7:45 a.m. Friday and pulled through the high gates at the house. The Westchester County hamlet of Chappaqua is about 35 miles north of New York City.

State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley said Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton was also at the family's home.

Clinton adviser Douglas Band said in a statement that Clinton left New York Presbyterian Hospital "in excellent health."

(We all should keep the Former President and his wife in our prayers and that includes us who don't agree with his politics and what he did while leading the nation. You can read more of the above story Bill Clinton returns home after heart procedure .)
