Graham: 'Never retreat' despite Day of Prayer opposition

Evangelist Franklin Graham says he'll "never retreat," despite the withdrawal of his invitation to speak today at the Pentagon's National Day of Prayer observance.

In Washington Wednesday, Graham urged Christians to openly proclaim their faith -- "even if preaching the Gospel someday becomes against the law." ( Graham: 'Never retreat' despite Day of Prayer opposition )

An Army spokesman said Graham's message wasn't inclusive, Muslims were offended and a federal judge declared the National Day of Prayer unconstitutional. That ruling is being appealed.

(Amen Franklin. We must obey God rather than men. )

Students Wearing American Flag Shirts Sent Home on Cinco de Mayo...

On any other day at Live Oak High School in Morgan HillDaniel Galliand his four friends would not even be noticed for wearing T-shirts with the American flag. But Cinco de Mayo is not any typical day especially on a campus with a large Mexican American student population.

Galli says he and his friends were sitting at a table during brunch break when the vice principal asked two of the boys to remove American flag bandannas that they wearing on their heads and for the others to turn their American flag T-shirts inside out. When they refused, the boys were ordered to go to the principal's office.

"They said we could wear it on any other day," Daniel Galli said, "but today is sensitive to Mexican-Americans because it's supposed to be their holiday so we were not allowed to wear it today

(So because our schools have become so PC we have forgotten what this nation is all about. We will allow people from other nations to have their day but not some boys who just want to wear the American flag. Oh my this is not the America many of us grow up to know and love. Pray this Everyday

Today is the National Day of Prayer.
So what should we pray today and everyday for that matter.
Here are a few ideas.
A. Leaders that are doing wrong would be changed. Those who are doing right would be encouraged.
B. Those who are doing wrong would be changed in their hearts and souls. (Hey the Bible tells us how God changed a killer named Saul into a new man. He can do that today too.)
C. That church and people who say they follow the Lord would get back or start to do what the word of God says to do.
D. That sin in the church would be dealt with.
E.That young people who follow God along with adult followers would not be ashamed of their God.
F. That the Lord would keep those who are fighting for our nation would be kept safe.
G. That good and Godly people will be elected to office.
H. The breakdown of the family would stop. Adults would decide to work on their marriages instead of giving up on them.
I. Above all that true spiritual change brought by God with people repenting for their sins and this nation sin's.
Well those are just some ideas of what you might want pray not only today but everyday.

Focus on Faith not the Courts

Dobson, who chairs the National Day of Prayer Task Force, told CBN News that a judge declaring the annual event unconstitutional should prompt Americans to cry out to God, as George Washington is said to have done for his suffering colonial army.

In an interview with the Rev. Pat Robertson, she said, "If this prayer covering is allowed to be taken off of our nation, God help us."

Robertson said atheists "shouldn't take away from us, who do believe, our right to worship God
."

(I think people of faith are losing their focus. Why do we depend on the government to give us permission to worship…. To find out more of my thoughts on this issue watch a video I posted last night 5-5 Focus on Faith not the Courts..)

White House Gibbs lays into FOXNEWS reporter...

You're doing a heck of a job, Fox-ie.

That was White House press secretary Robert Gibbs's message -- not -- to Fox News correspondent Wendell Goler on Tuesday. Outraged, Gibbs singled out the network for airing an unsubstantiated conspiracy theory spun by President Bush’s FEMA director, Mike "Brownie" Brown.

On Monday night, Brown -- the former horse association director blamed for the White House's sluggish response to Hurricane Katrina -- claimed the Obama administration let the Gulf oil leak get worse so they could retract its own promise to expand exploratory offshore drilling.
(Instead of getting upset at Fox news people in this White House should be willing to go on it more often. Read more of the above story White House Gibbs lays into FOXNEWS reporter...)

AZ PROTEST: 'Los Suns' jerseys set for Cinco de Mayo...

The Phoenix Suns will wear "Los Suns" on their jerseys in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals on Wednesday night, owner Robert Sarver said, "to honor our Latino community and the diversity of our league, the state of Arizona, and our nation."

The decision to wear the jerseys on the Cinco de Mayo holiday stems from a law passed by the Arizona Legislature and signed by Gov. Jan Brewer that has drawn widespread criticism from Latino organizations and civil rights groups that say it could lead to racial profiling of Hispanics. President Barack Obama has called the law "misguided." ( AZ PROTEST: 'Los Suns' jerseys set for Cinco de Mayo...  )

Sarver, who was born and raised in Tucson, said frustration with the federal government's failure to deal with the illegal immigration issue led to the passage of what he called "a flawed state law."

"However intended, the result of passing the law is that our basic principles of equal rights and protection under the law are being called into question," he said, "and Arizona's already struggling economy will suffer even further setbacks at a time when the state can ill-afford them."

The controversy surrounding the law has led to picketing at some road games of baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks and a call from the Rev. Jesse Jackson for major league baseball to move next year's All-Star Game from Phoenix.

(I am getting tired of people including sports people saying  a law  is going to hurt human rights to make sure those who are in our nation are here in a legal way. This is not going to hurt human rights. I am also tired of people saying those of us who support this law are people full of hate. No we are not we just believe in following the laws of our nation. )

Longtime Tigers broadcaster Harwell dead at 92

Nobody knows better what Ernie Harwell meant to baseball in Michigan than Kirk Gibson.

"I grew up basically in the Detroit area and I listened to Ernie Harwell as long as I can remember," the former Tigers slugger said. "He was Mr. Everything. He was an icon."

Beloved by generations of fans who grew up enraptured by his rich voice, Southern cadence and quirky phrases on the radio, Harwell died Tuesday after a months-long battle with cancer. He was 92.

The longtime Detroit Tigers broadcaster died about 7:30 p.m. in his apartment at Fox Run Village and Retirement Center in the Detroit suburb of Novi, said his attorney and longtime friend, S. Gary Spicer.

His wife of 68 years, Lulu, and his two sons and two daughters were at his side, Spicer said.

"We'll miss you, Ernie Harwell. You'll forever be the voice of summer," Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm tweeted.

Harwell revealed in September that he'd been diagnosed with inoperable cancer of the bile duct. He took the news with characteristic poise, saying he planned to continue working on a book and other projects.

"Whatever happens, I'm ready to face it," Harwell told The Associated Press on Sept. 4, 2009.

Shortly after Harwell announced that he was ill, the Tigers honored him during a game against Kansas City, showing a video tribute and giving him a chance to address the crowd at Comerica Park.

"In my almost 92 years on this Earth, the good Lord has blessed me with a great journey," Harwell said at a microphone behind home plate. "The blessed part of that journey is that it's going to end here in the great state of Michigan."

(If I remember right Harwell was a man with true faith in the Lord. If that is correct he is more alive today than he was yesterday and one day all those who believe like he did will see him again. Please pray for his love ones and all those who knew him. Read more  Longtime Tigers broadcaster Harwell dead at 92.)

Capitol Hill Bible reading

Believe it or not God's  Word  the Bible  is being read on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, leading up to the National Day of Prayer.  So who is doing it some TV preacher, some Bible thumper? No people from different backgrounds including some elected leaders.

The 21st annual U.S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon kicked off Sunday evening, and for 90 hours, the entire Bible will be read by volunteers on the west side of the Capitol building. The volunteers will read parts of the Bible  in 15-minute increments. The purpose of the event is to honor God's Word, to celebrate the First Amendment freedoms of speech, assembly, and religion, and to bring unity in  the body of Christ focused on the Bible. Those of us of faith can go to different churches and hold different doctrines but one of the key doctrines that should bring us together is the Bible being the word of God. Amen anyone?

Pastor Michael Hall said "We decided in the very beginning, when the event started, that we were going to reach out to both sides of the aisle -- to Republicans, Independents [and] Democrats -- because we have believers all through this great house," Hall explains. "We're divided so many ways in this country, and there's a reason for a lot of the divisions, but if we could just come together around the Word of God...."

Prayer urged in wake of judge's ruling

Shirley Dobson says she believes Thursday's National Day of Prayer will be "a Valley Forge moment for people of faith."

(I am all for people praying but lets not forget we can pray anytime we want to no matter what any court says. People in Cuba and China can pray anytime too even though following a faith is against their man made laws. Let me make it clear I don't agree with what that judge did but we need to stop waiting for a government to give us permission to follow God and his word the Bible. Far as America being in trouble far as this ruling goes I think we are already in trouble. Just look at what our kids our being taught in the government schools, or the breakdown of the family. No cancer So it Is Party Time

Fifteen years ago, David Spence threw a party.

He was 29 years old, the son of a prominent businessman and an honors graduate of Georgetown University. He had a bright smile and a brighter future.

But that's not why he wanted to celebrate. It had been five years since he beat Hodgkin's disease, and he was feeling lucky to be alive.

Sunday, Spence reached an even bigger milestone 20 years of cancer-free living and decided it was time to party once more.

Support for AZ law not grounded in bigotry

The head of a Protestant renewal organization finds it outrageous that liberal Protestant leaders would rather support the rights of illegal aliens over the liberties of law-abiding U.S. citizens.

"Several liberal Protestant and evangelical officials spoke out harshly, not only against the new Arizona immigration law, but sharply condemning the alleged 'hateful' motive of those who support that law," reports Mark Tooley, president of The Institute on Religion & Democracy (IRD) ( Support for AZ law not grounded in bigotry  )

"To condemn [as] innately bigoted anyone who supports the enforcement of immigration law seems outrageous on the behalf of Christian leaders," he contends, commenting that those leaders must live in a sort of fantasy world.

(So if I want a law which is on the books of this nation to be enforced I am a man of hate. Give me a break. These spiritual leaders need to start teaching about the God of the Bible which many of them don't do either instead of  preaching people like us are full of hate. )

Tech exchange With Islam Nations is One- Sided

A conservative Jewish rabbi says the only thing the Muslim world produces is terrorism, and America  stands to gain little from President Obama's new "exchange" programs with Islamic countries.
President Barack Obama claims the exchange programs with Muslim countries will bring their business people and "social entrepreneurs" to the U.S. to learn and share their expertise. He announced the programs will  allow women who are followers of the Islam faith  to enter the technology field and come for internships and professional development, while high-tech leaders from Silicon Valley will share their expertise in the Middle East. President Obama  asserts this program will be an aide in  improving  relations between the U.S. and Muslim countries.
But Rabbi Aryeh Spero with the Jewish Action Alliance does not believe the United States of America  needs Moslem countries to share their technology.

"Who are you kidding? The Moslem countries don't have any technology," Spero contends. "They didn't even invent a vacuum cleaner; they invented suicide bombing. What technology do we need from the Moslem world," he wonders. "When [Obama] was in Cairo, he spoke about the great contributions Islam made to America. What were the great contributions? I don't know of any to America."

Based on the lack of evidence to back up  Obama's  words,  Rabbi Spero predicts this endeavor will be a "rewriting" of history as he feels it is just another attempt by this President  to elevate the Muslim culture and integrate it into the West.
President Obama seems to not want to talk about the impact the Christian faith has had on America but he has no trouble saying good things about the Islam faith. It kind of makes one want to question his faith. Read more on this issue Tech exchange a bit one-sided.
