An off-duty crossing guard for Drexel
Middle School was arrested last Thursday for allegedly beating a 14-year-old
boy who taunted him during the school year.
Gerald Kelly, 60, of the
300-block of Shadeland Avenue in Drexel Hill was arrested June 24 after he
assaulted the young teen outside a pharmacy after school hours, police say.
“This was a get-even attack,” police Superintendent
Michael Chitwood told the Delaware County Times. “It was certainly
inappropriate behavior.”
(Billy's Thoughts>> Let me make it clear up front what this adult did was 100% wrong. Those who work in the schools should not try to get even with kids who are rude to them. That said there was a day when this young man would have been paddled for what he said at school and then at home for it. This assault was wrong but in another way this kid needs to respect adults. Again I am not blessing what the adult did just bringing up another issue far as how some youth treat adults. What do you think am I out to lunch or do you see my point.
