Renee Griffith was co-valedictorian in 2008 at Butte High School, so she and the
other honoree were asked to speak together about the lessons they learned in
high school. Griffith wanted to express that standing up for her religious
convictions taught her to persevere and not fear, but school officials gave her
an ultimatum: replace the references to God with more neutral phrases, or be
forbidden to speak at all at graduation. (

In response to the incident,
The Rutherford Institute filed a suit in district court on
behalf of Griffith, but the court ruled in favor of school officials.
(Billy's Thoughts>> This young lady is now taking her case to the Supreme Court. Lets all hope freedom of speech wins in her case. I am still amazed at how fearful the government schools are of God and faith that they will do everything they can to stop a student from speaking kindly of God -of course I bet if we were talking about the god of some other faith instead of the Christian God there would be no issues far as the school goes. )
