Navy Approves Same-Sex Marriages in Naval Chapels

Anticipating the elimination of the military ban on homosexuality, the Office of the Chief of Navy Chaplains has decided that same-sex couples in the Navy will be able to get married in Navy chapels, and that Navy chaplains will be allowed to perform the ceremonies -- if homosexual marriage is legal in the state where the unions are to be performed. (Navy Approves Same-Sex Marriages in Naval Chapels )

The advisory came in the form of an April 13 memo issued to all chaplains, in which the Chief of Navy Chaplains, Admiral Michael Tidd, said the Chaplain Corps was revising its Tier I training manuals, which had previously indicated that same-sex marriages are not authorized on federal property.

(Billy's Thoughts>>> One of the most famous quotes in American naval history is the phrase in Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry's dispatch after the Battle of Lake Erie, "We have met the enemy and they are ours." It looks like today Hazard might say, ""We have met the enemy and they are us.")

Cal Thomas is a MAD Person

This morning once again I need to tip my hat to my friend Cal Thomas. The other night  Cal was given the Media Research Center's William F. Buckley Award for Media Excellence.
It is a blessing to see somebody with Godly wisdom, and who  cares about many things us on the right care about to be honored. I have been a friend of Cal for many years now but before  I got to  know him away from his media work I was a fan of his work.  Thomas has used his gifts to make this world a better place. He has met the left straight on. He has not hated anyone on the left in fact he has many friends on the left while at the same time not backing down from what he believes. Cal Thomas is truly a MAD person. (MAD= Make A. Difference person)
You can watch Cal's inspiring  acceptance speech right here.

Prayer for country, for leaders

People across America are gathering at many locations today, the National Day of Prayer (NDP), to humble themselves before God in prayer.

On Friday, the White House released a presidential proclamation marking today's observance of the National Day of Prayer -- the constitutionality of which was affirmed in a recent federal court ruling. "Throughout our history, Americans have turned to prayer for strength, inspiration, and solidarity," President Barack Obama states in the proclamation. "Prayer has played an important role in the American story and in shaping our nation's leaders."

Michael Calhoun, director of communications for the NDP Task Force, concurs, noting prayer has been an "indispensible" part of the nation's heritage. "We must remain faithful in our commitment to intercede on behalf of our nation and its leaders -- especially at this challenging time." (Prayer for country, for leaders )

Archbishop of Canterbury criticizes White House over bin Laden killing...

Dr Rowan Williams, spiritual head of the 80-million strong worldwide Anglican Communion, criticised the White House for repeatedly changing its account of the raid on the al-Qaeda leader’s compound in Pakistan.

Killing bin Laden when he was not carrying a weapon meant that justice could not be “seen to be done”, the Archbishop suggested.

But lawyers and senior figures from politics and the military said Dr Williams was not living in “the real world” while relatives of 9/11 victims expressed outrage at his remarks. (Archbishop of Canterbury criticizes White House over bin Laden killing...  )

(Billy's Thoughts>>> The truth is justice must be brought to those who have done evil to this world.)

Al Qaeda Losing Luster After Leader's Death

With the Middle East at a crossroads, the death of Usama bin Laden makes the choice for its people that much sharper.

On one side is a world where Islamic radicals try to lure supporters, exploiting an environment of corrupt governance and poverty. On the other, a new wave of reform where populations are demanding their leaders either improve conditions or leave.

The Obama administration hopes the latter is the obvious winner.

Top U.S. officials are pressing the case that bin Laden's death marks a significant blow to the network of Al Qaeda and its affiliates. While he may not have played a major operational role, he was the figurehead of the movement. With him gone, White House counterterrorism adviser John Brennan said the "Al Qaeda narrative is becoming increasingly bankrupt."

(Billy's Thoughts>>> Yes it was a great victory for America but we are still in a war with those who want to kill us and destroy America. So we better be careful and not think the war is over. Read more on this issue
