AL tornado victims' divine appointment

This past week, roughly 30 staff members from Pine Cove Christian Camps of Tyler, Texas, put on a camp at a church in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, for about 150 youngsters, many of whom lost nearly everything in April's twister. The trip was planned long before the tornado struck, and spokesman Jason Wallace says his group knew they needed to contact the church to see what they could do.

"We wanted to help them find a creative way to reach out to the community, and that's really what base camp does by providing camp on a church property," he explains. "And so we were going there anyway. When all this happened, obviously it was painful. We called them the day of and wanted to make sure they were doing okay, but we're really excited to see this as an opportunity to really bless the community. So I think they ended up giving away about two-thirds of the camp to kids who had been affected by the tornado," which means those kids receive scholarships to attend.

According to Wallace, the event was a divine appointment. (AL tornado victims' divine appointment )

"In preparation for us coming, I called our contact person there. And when she was telling me all the stories of all the people who had responded as they gave out scholarships to those who were affected by the tornado and how the community had rallied around to give money to the people who had been affected by the tornado so the kids could go to the camp, we were...both on the phone, just amazed at what God had done," the spokesman shares.
