A
U.S.-born Israeli author and expert on the Middle East says even though most
American Jews are liberals first and Jewish second, he expects the support for
Obama in that community to decline.
David Rubin, author of The Islamic Tsunami: Israel and America in the Age
of Obama, recently wrote an editorial in The Jerusalem Post titled
"Why Do Jews Vote Obama?" The former mayor of the Samarian town of Shiloh says
while President Barack Obama's hostility toward the Jewish state is clear to
nearly all Israelis, most American Jews do not consider Israel's security that
high of a priority.
"They have their priorities -- usually liberal
positions on issues such as abortion, 'gay marriage,' being against school
prayer and healthcare and things like that are what determine the core of the
American Jewish community's vote," Rubin notes.
But despite the pervasive liberalism, he believes Obama's
Jewish support will be low in 2012. (Time
for U.S. Jews to lose 'rose-colored glasses' )
(Billy's Thoughts>>> I hope American Jews far as their politics goes will putting being Jewish ahead of their liberal positions. I don't understand how Jews keep voting for Democrats even though people like Obama is no friend of Israel.)
