Legislation = 'outrageous indoctrination'

Gay, homosexual indoctrinationAn attorney in California says if homosexual activists in the state get their way, public school students will be subjected to history lessons that lionize homosexual figures in history.

Brad Dacus of the Pacific Justice Institute (PJI) labels Senate Bill 48, which would require the teaching of the contributions of homosexuals throughout history, as blatant "indoctrination" of the homosexual agenda -- and parents will have little to say about it, he adds.

"This legislation requires this outrageous indoctrination to be mandatory, allowing no parent to legally opt out their child from participating," he explains. (Legislation = 'outrageous indoctrination' )

(Billy's Thoughts>>> If you live in the state of California don't you think this might be a good reason to remove your children from the government schools in that state. When a school or state endorses  things which God in his word  has called  sinful don't you think the schools are burning spirituality.)

In church -- but in the country illegally

A Southern Baptist Convention leader says a large portion of Hispanics who attend SBC churches are in the country illegally.

Dr. Richard Land heads the SBC's Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission. "I'm told by the Hispanic community that perhaps 40 percent of all the Southern Baptist Hispanics in America are undocumented -- which shouldn't surprise us," he says. "I mean, they come here to work, and we aggressively evangelize and they find Jesus as their Savior."

Dr. Richard Land (ERLC)Land also stated the denomination's policy supports a "clean" version of the so-called "DREAM Act," a proposed law that would let illegal immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as children earn legal status, either by going to college or serving in the military.  (In church -- but in the country illegally )

(Billy's Thoughts>>> The first job of the church is to reach people with the good news of Jesus however after  salvation people should be taught what the Bible says about obeying the laws of the land. We who follow Christ are to obey the laws of the land unless by obeying  those laws you would disobey a command of God. )

Aiding of terrorists deserves action

Texas Governor Rick Perry (R) is urging the Justice Department to take action against any American citizens who are taking part in the recent flotilla aimed at providing aid to terrorists in Gaza.

The flotilla, which was scheduled to depart Greece over the weekend, has been blocked by Greek authorities from leaving that country's ports. Associated Press reports today that only one boat linked to the flotilla -- the Dignite-Al Karama from France -- has been able to leave Greek waters and is on its way to the Gaza Strip. Teachers union endorses Obama's re-election... Cares More About Politics Than the Children

The nation's largest education union has endorsed President Barack Obama's 2012 re-election campaign.

Members of the National Education Association voted to support Obama on Monday at their annual convention in Chicago.

In a statement, NEA President Dennis Van Roekel says Obama and the union share a vision and members wanted early and strong support to help his election. (Teachers union endorses Obama's re-election... )

(Billy's Thoughts>>> The leadership of this union cares more about politics than helping children. They oppose school choice everywhere which would give poor kids the same chances as rich kids to get a good education.  It is a dishonor when a teacher's union puts politics ahead of the kids. It is also sad because there are many good teachers in the government schools who are putting the kids first. )

Obama's UK ambassador skips event honoring Reagan...

Last night's Guildhall dinner in honour of Ronald Reagan's centenary was a truly glittering and warm occasion.

The British roasted lamb and the sunny Californian chardonnay evoked the close Anglo-US relationship of Reagan and Thatcher as much as the fine speeches by Condi Rice and William Hague.

But guests were left asking, where on earth was the American ambassador to London, Louis B Susman?

"Our ambassador should be here," said Lynn de Rothschild, the American entrepreneur who is married to Sir Evelyn de Rothschild and was one of Hillary Clinton's key fundraisers in 2008 as well as a supporter of several Republican presidential candidates. "This was an historic dinner to mark Reagan's centenary and to celebrate him as the man who ended the Cold War. What could not be more important?  (Obama's UK ambassador skips event honoring Reagan...

"Why is our ambassador not here on Independence Day? No excuse. How is it that America is not represented in this room by our ambassador? It is appalling that no representative of our government is in this room. This has the feel of petty partisanship."

(Billy's Thoughts>>> I hope the American ambassador had a good reason for missing this event. I fear it was politics but I hope that is not the case. Whenever an American president is honored  the leaders of our nation should be there regardless of their politics. )

DOJ careless with CAIR

Eric HolderA public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption has sued the Justice Department for failing to respond to questions about why it won't prosecute a radical Islamic group and one of its co-founders.

Judicial Watch says special agents of the FBI and prosecutors at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Dallas, Texas, have urged Attorney General Eric Holder to prosecute the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and its co-founder, Omar Ahmad, for his link to the terrorist group Hamas.

Chris Farrell, a spokesman for Judicial Watch, says the case stems from a 1993 meeting moderated by Ahmad in Philadelphia, "where they planned and schemed for various ways to support Hamas. There was a wiretap in the meeting in Philadelphia," he reports. "And this group called the Palestine Committee, which had various other members there participating, they've got the audio. They've heard these guys conspiring."

(Billy's Thoughts>>> Holder should do everything in his power to keep Americans safe. Perhaps someday Holder will step down and that would be good for America. The A.G. should not be trying to help a radical group that hates America.)

Veterans officials' 'extreme religious hostility'

CemeteryA Texas-based Christian law firm that defends First Amendment freedoms finds it "completely outrageous" that the Houston National Cemetery is banning the mention of God from veterans' funerals.

Liberty Institute has filed suit on behalf of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), The American Legion, and The National Memorial Ladies over allegations of religious hostility and unlawful censorship by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and its director of the Houston National Cemetery. (Veterans officials' 'extreme religious hostility' )

(Billy's Thoughts>>> When a love one has a family member die they need to be shown and told the love of God. This sounds like something which would take place in the old Soviet Union. A place where there was no hope after death.)

Both sides unhappy with Ark. governor

On Tuesday night the governor of Arkansas did something that no other sitting governor from that state had ever done, leaving one conservative Christian scratching his head.

For the first time an Arkansas governor spoke to a homosexual-rights advocacy group. But in his address before the Stonewall Democrats, Governor Mike Bebee maintained his support for traditional marriage between a man and a woman, and answered no when asked if he thought "gay marriage" or civil unions would ever become law in his state.

Jerry Cox, president of Arkansas Family Council, tells OneNewsNow that Stonewall Democrats is so far out of step with Arkansans he is surprised that the Democrat spoke to them. (Both sides unhappy with Ark. governor )

GOP leadership opens door to homosexual rep

Homosexual Republicans are celebrating what they see as a major victory for their cause.

According to the Log Cabin Republicans, the Republican National Committee -- which is the central arm of the Republican Party -- has named the homosexual group's executive director to the RNC's Finance Committee. That committee is the fundraising arm of the RNC. (GOP leadership opens door to homosexual rep )

(Billy's Thoughts>>> This is another move by the GOP that makes me wonder if they truly care about the moral issues or do they just want the votes of the pro family voters.)

Texas yanks Planned Parenthood funding

Texas has passed a bill defunding Planned Parenthood, making it the seventh state to do so. The bill sends $47 million in tax funds to other organizations that provide medical services to poor women.

Jonathan Saenz of Liberty Institute calls Monday's vote in Austin a "defining moment" in Texas for the pro-life movement.

"This legislation particularly takes away funding from groups that provide abortions and are affiliates for abortions, and it also prioritizes family-planning money in a way that it goes to organizations that provide comprehensive healthcare for women in the state of Texas, which Planned Parenthood does not do," the Institute representative says.

Pastor in Iran Needs Your Prayers and Help

Voice of the Martyrs reports that the death sentence of Youcef Nardarkhani, an Iranian pastor convicted of apostasy, has been upheld and confirmed by the Iranian Supreme Court. Pastor Youcef, a leader in the Full Gospel "Church of Iran" network, was arrested and imprisoned in October 2009 after protesting a decision by the government requiring that his son study the Qur'an (click here for more). In September, Iran's 11th Circuit Criminal Court of Appeals for the Gilan Province upheld Pastor Youcef's death sentence and conviction for apostasy. The delivery of the death sentence, however, was delayed. Many believe the delay was a means to pressure him to him to turn away from Christ in prison.

With the sentence now upheld and confirmed, it is possible that the authorities will ask him to recant his faith and execute him without advance notice if he refuses -- a typical pattern of action taken by authorities in such cases. If Pastor Youcef is indeed executed, his would be the first judicial execution of a Christian in Iran in two decades. He is but one of several members of his church who have been arrested by Iranian officials, and his wife has also spent time in prison because of her faith in Christ.

Pray that God will continue to equip Pastor Youcef to stand firm in his faith. Pray that he will sense the love and support of all those praying for him and working on his behalf. Pray that the Iranian authorities involved will be convicted of their injustice and overturn the case. Pray for comfort to abound in the hearts and minds of Pastor Youcef's wife and children.

The Family Research Council adds to this story two ways that you can respond in addition to prayers. You can express your concern for Pastor Nadarkhani and ask for his release by calling the Iranian Interest Section at the Embassy of Pakistan in Washington, DC at (202) 965-4990.  You can also contact the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the United Nations: Email – iran@un.int; Phone – (212) 687-2020
